Hello SPIers, I saw a post the other day from someone who has created a website to track HIVE stats with a twist. Sadly, I cant remember who this person is and searching for content on HIVE is not easy but I was able to find the website after spending a few minutes in my internet history. We have a Rally car but no frontend that has a decent search function. Moving on...
The Problem
We currently rank users by activity, the number of posts someone uploads, how many comments, replies, snaps, post rewards, curation rewards, upvote value etc and we have these reputation scores. Nothing wrong with rep numbers but could there be a better matric to display beside someone's username? Maybe instead of ranking users by activity, we rank users as investors.
I've never written a post on the BTC forum but I've been buying and holding the shit with diamond hands for the past 8 years. I'd take 50k non-active investors for HIVE over 1M users posting content. We'd be a multibillion-dollar blockchain if this were the case. Users or users, not investors.
Personally, I'd rather see a score that shows me if a user buys, stakes or sells HIVE over seeing a score showing me how much content they pump out.
Introducing the KE ratio
The website is called BeeBalanced
https://beebalanced.streamlit.app/
From what I remember in the post, this is like a beta version and they plan to add lots of new functions and utility over time. Currently, the website offers 3 functions and 1 custom function. The creator must be a Splinterlands player as he's used its assets to roll out. Im not qualified to explain what each thing does so check out the site and play about it, no wallet connection is required. The 1 thing I want to share is the KE ratio which I think is a BeeBalanced self-invented HIVE matric.
KE Ratio = (Author Rewards + Curation Rewards) / HP
This KE ratio measures users as investors and assigns everyone a score. between 0 and 10 (I think), 0 being the best, and 10 being the worst. It aims to work out if the user/account has been a net positive or net negative to the overall HIVE ecosystem. It is simple and because of this, it's incorruptible
Why is this an important metric to know?
If you're going to be upvoting someone's content, would you prefer to upvote someone who is going to keep the HIVE are someone who will sell it to an exchange? When you vote for a user with a low KE ratio score, there is a high chance the HIVE earned from your upvote will never leave the ecosystem. Voting for users with high KE ratio scores is the opposite and chances are that HIVE will end up on an exchange and add to selling pressure.
How KE ratios could be used?
Looking at curation trails as an example. Currently curation trail bots search for things like, tag used, min word counts, @mentions, min reputation scores, min HE token balances, HP delegations, etc. Adding each matric to search for into the code in time consuming, sometimes conflicting and is just harder than using one single martic like the KE ratio. None of the others filter out of the user is a net stacker are seller of HIVE.
Using leo.voter as an example as its one of the biggest curation trials onchain and they issue around 180k HIVE in upvotes per year. They could say, going forward, leo.voter will only upvote content from users with a KE ratio score of below 2. This would help toward putting the 180k HIVE they distrubute through votes each year into more daimond over paper hands. They could go further and create a LEO KE ratio score. Something like (LEO Author Rewards + Curation Rewards + leo.vote rewards) / LP but thats another level.
Now think, what if all curation bots did something like this? and individual users held higher standards? How many power-downs would be stopped? Would it help reduce HIVE selling pressure?
I think a matric like should replace our current REP scores are at least be displayed in the HIVE wallet because it shows the user's intentions.
Anyways, let's look at SPinvest!
How do we fair? Good or bad?
Now, remember STEEM POWERED INVESTMENTS (SPI) was set up to extract value from STEEM POWER. This was our thing, hold SP and spend the rewards off-chain. We took some heat for it as well and were attacked by a few bored do gooders. I remember for a while all SPI token holders got auto downvotes from Curangel for a few weeks as they called us a scam and said we were abusing STEEM POWER.
Let's have a look through every active account operated by SPinvest and see if we are a force for good or bad within HIVEs ecosystem.
Account | HIVE | HP | Author Rewards | Curation Rewards | KE Score |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
@spinvest | 172 HIVE | 88,236 HP | 19,585 HIVE | 1780 HIVE | 0.24😍 |
@spi-store | 75,381 HIVE | 127,250 HP | 0 HIVE | 3023 HIVE | 0.02😍 |
@eddie-earner | 0 HIVE | 139,448 HP | 5106 HIVE | 3048 HIVE | 0.06😍 |
@eds-vote | 12 HIVE | 7177 HP | 0 HIVE | 31,969 HIVE | 4.45☹️ |
@dailydab | 123 HIVE | 140,597 HP | 1929 HIVE | 1972 HIVE | 0.03😍 |
Holy crap, 3 of the 5 accounts we handle HIVE/HP through have under 0.10 scores. The numbers are alot better than I expected for the @spinvest account so im happy to see that. The rest like EDSI or DAB are HIVE income projects so good scores were expected. Let's take a look at Curangel and see how they fair after calling us scammers. Yep, im that petty to bring it up after 6 years, I remember things, sue me.
Account | HIVE | HP | Author Rewards | Curation Rewards | KE Score |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
@curangel | 4539 HIVE | 105,473 HP | 16,416 HIVE | 1,027,215 HIVE | 9.89😢 |
Ok ok, Im aware they pay out like 80% or something close to delegators as HIVE so they need to powerdown and this is a cheap shot but is it really? If we say 50% of the 900k thats been paid out over the past 6 years was sold, thats near 500k of selling pressure, nearing 100k per year and growing.
You might think, A HA!! hey there mister, you run EDS-vote and EDS-vote kinda does the same thing because it's a curation project. You'd almost be right except 100% of those curation rewards are powered up to @eddie-earner so it's kinda not the same. So, all 31,969 HP earned from eds-vote is powered up to @eddie-earner meaning eds-vote is a net positive, "technically" a net positive for HIVE and Curangel is not.
And I think I'll leave it on that note.

Deffo check out these scores and look into who you are auto voting for blindly throwing upvotes to
https://beebalanced.streamlit.app/
You might be surprised to see that alot of the people you give auto upvotes to actually sell the lot or content farm from more then 1 account. Lots of us use autovoters we set up years ago, might be a good time to look at your list and give it an update.
