Hello dear hive friends.

Good morning to all my HIVE friends. How are you? Today, I brought a Sri Lankan sweet to share with you: learn how to make "spoon kawum." "Spoon kawum" is a Sri Lankan cultural sweet that is perfect for tea time. This traditional treat is easy to prepare and requires simple ingredients. It is named "spoon kawum" because of its spoon-like shape. Nowadays, it is commonly prepared for tea time, but in the past, it was made for special occasions and taken to relatives' houses for all good deeds. Only a small amount of ingredients, like rice flour and bread flour, is required. So, let's see how to make this delightful sweet.

Method of making...

First, in a small saucepan, combine the sugar with the water and cook over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Again we add sugar and this will form a thick syrup. Then set the syrup aside to cool slightly.

Then combine rice flour, wheat flour, cardamom and salt in a bowl. Mix well to ensure that the cardamom and salt are evenly distributed throughout the flour.

Then gradually add the sugar syrup to the rice flour mixture and stir constantly to avoid lumps. The mixture should have a smooth, dough-like consistency. If the batter is too thick, you can add a little water to get the right thickness.

Then take a vessel and add oil and heat the oil on the heat of deep oil stove. After the oil heats up, take the mixture and pour it like a spoon and fry it until golden.

To prepare the perfect spoon kawum, it is crucial to get the consistency right. The temperature should be kept low. Brown sugar is best if you can use it, but you can also substitute jaggery for sugar. Spoon Kawum is a delicious combination of crunchy texture and rich sweet taste, making it a perfect accompaniment to your tea time. Enjoy this traditional Sri Lankan sweet treat with your friends and family. I'll be back soon with a new dish.
