Happy Tuesday!
A few weeks ago, before having my Morning coffee, I wandered downstairs, with my daughter following close by, as she tends to do. Of course, in my sleepy grumpy state, I would have the bad luck to step on a plastic shark toy.
Any parent will tell you, this is one of the worst toy related injuries.
When it comes to swearing, I can get pretty bad, so in the moment, two not so lovely little words formed in my mind and started slipping from my tongue...I got as far as "FFF...." when I realized little Abbey, who loves to copy everything I say, was watching with great interest...
I had definitely not planned on shouting "Flying Fish!" (Though the words I had in mind do sound similar) Once the words were out and my foot had stopped throbbing, the words were stuck in my along with the beginnings of an idea for a drawing.
So, without further mad musings from me, here's the process and drawing.
To make life easier, we start with an edited reference. It just makes it easier to plan and figure out how to get the right shapes and proportions.
Drawing over the reference (digitally because I was lazy at the time) I seriously love this image though.
Onto the paper you go, flying fish!
Of course, no fish can fly without wings, right?
Just a few more details....
Now, we add colour...
...even more colour!
Finally done, with a whole rainbow of colours in there.
So, that's my little story and drawing, nothing more, nothing less. Beauty can come from pain if you use it right.
Till next time! Stay weird, wonderful or whatever you want to be.
