Am I live streaming again?? Or not? Or not really?

It's a tough choice.

What the heck are you talking about?

Hey guys ! It's @dudeontheweb back with a rare post to let my few followers know what I'm up too. This is going to be a shorter post just to lay out my future plans and with that to also hold myself accountable to follow though. So here is what I have layed out so far.

I'm going to be Live Streaming to YouTube....sort of.

Yes, you read that correctly. I will be streaming content to YouTube, specifically what I love most, which is Retro game play. I really enjoy playing classic video games and I kind of want to share that with all of you. But there is a slight catch...

What's the catch?

Well this is where things get a little bit interesting. What I want to do is post retro game play to YouTube. The thing I have found is that, for me, sitting down and then hitting the record button to capture game play, then take time to edit the footage, then upload to YouTube, is really just a pain in the ass to me.

It is much easier for me to just fire up OBS Studio and live stream to YouTube and just do what I have been doing for the last few years. If I need to do any editing, I can just do it in the YouTube editor. Plus on my end, if I upload a larger video file , I figure I could just do a live stream quicker to get the footage uploaded. It kind of a work around, but it works for me.

My plan for now is going to be shorter streams of a singular game somewhere in the 15-30 minute range. So the totality of the video won't be to long.

Why the change of heart?

Yeah I know I made a post of me hanging it up when it came to live streaming. You can read about it in this post : It's been a fun ride.

But this time is basically me making game play videos using the live streaming feature of YouTube. If you look at my blog here you can see I've done a few short live streams already. That was to test out how I was going to put this plan in motion. Those streams are pretty rough, but I got an idea of how I want to proceed.

I really didn't want the pressure of live streaming to an audience. Even though I had a smaller viewership, it still felt like I "had to be on my game." I think that is what kind of burned me out the last time.

So my plan going forward is to live stream when I have time. And it can be anytime of the day I feel like going. I'm not going to announce when I'm going to go live. It's just basically to capture the game play footage. And for those of you who do happen to catch me live on YouTube, I'm not going to be too active in the chat. Oh, I will say high a chat for a bit, but that is not going to be my main focus. The game play will be.

And those videos will be posted here on PeakD/Hive.

When will all of this start?

I'm shooting for an official start date of October 1st. And then see how it goes.

Conclusion

Well, this is a new start to something I'm going to try out. This is a work in progress, so if you see some wonky stuff or some thing that are off, I'm working on it! LOL! And you may see a few posts before the start date of Oct.1. I love retro gaming and want to share it all with you. So hopefully this will be a good way for me to share with all of you.

Thanks for reading.

Can you not live stream using #CastGarden or #3Speak and have it automatically uploaded to youtub?

Check this out: https://peakd.com/hive-110786/@agorise/castgarden-launches-new-podcasting-20-certified-hosting-with-free-cross-network-syndication

@kencode will be able to help you set it up if needed.

I will check that out. thanks for the heads up!

Yes, Cast.Garden (and all Peerhub powered sites (see peerhub.app)) support 4K livestreaming, and includes Podcasting 2.0 Certified RSS (https://podcastindex.org/apps). The RSS feed generated for each channel can be auto-imported by Youtube so that the Youtube channel becomes an additional Syndicate without any additional work on the Creators part. It's all done automatically in the background. @dudeontheweb
