HiveDevsSchool - Poposal Review - Open Source + Actual State + Proposal Goals

in #hiveproposal2 years ago

As we have submitted our funding proposal for this year, we are committed to bringing various projects to the HIVE community.

In this series of posts, we will be discussing each point of the proposal, including an overview of the projects, open source code, goals, current state, and future plans. While some of our projects will have private branding to make them economically sustainable and not a burden on the HIVE community,

we will of course still make the software open source for other developers to use and build upon. In this way, we hope to contribute to the growth and success of the HIVE ecosystem.

Overview

Introducing HiveDevsSchool, a project aimed at bringing new developers to the HIVE blockchain at no cost to them and making them start building as fast as possible. Our project began as a successful pilot program called HK UNIVERSITY, which was a Discord server where the HK personally taught new developers how to start building on HIVE without any prior experience through practical projects and personalized attention.

We have since expanded and created a website that provides students with all sorts of resources related to HIVE development, specific skills to learn, and a standard group of projects to work on. Our goal is to empower the platform by allowing students to share their projects and homework directly on the blockchain, leveraging the student experience with Learn2earn powered by HIVE.

Additionally, we have a library section for each skill and topic related to the projects, where students can easily find posts from other students and learn from their experiences. We understand that the development landscape can be overwhelming, but we are here to make it accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

We need to add a couple of things before the "official launching" but you can start using it!!

Goal Of The Project

the ultimate goal is to attract and train future builders of the HIVE blockchain

Making developer education accessible and free on the Hive blockchain will have a significant impact on the growth of the HIVE blockchain.

By lowering the barriers to entry for developers, we can expect to see a higher rate of new projects being developed, which in turn can create more opportunities for users and investors to interact with the ecosystem.

As more projects are created, the Hive ecosystem can become more robust and diversified, ultimately creating wealth for the entire community as more usecases, products and services are created.

By equipping developers with a well-developed curriculum of skills and incentivizing them to participate, we can help ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the Hive blockchain. Accessible education is a key component of building a strong and thriving community of developers, and we believe that by making it available to all, we can help drive the continued success of Hive.

Actual State Of The Project

s we have been developing the HiveDevsSchool platform, we are excited to say that we have already made significant progress.

Our users can easily login with their HIVE blockchain account, and we have created a comprehensive set of practical projects that cover different skills and topics for our students to work on.

They can submit their completed projects directly through the website, and their work will be posted on the HIVE blockchain. We have also created a library section where students can browse posts related to specific skills and projects for additional research.

Additionally, we have compiled a vast amount of resources that students can use to enhance their learning experience. Our aim is to make the learning process as smooth and effective as possible for our users.

Actual Curriculum

Our curriculum is comprised of a diverse range of lessons and projects that are designed to equip developers with the skills necessary to thrive in the blockchain industry. We have introductory lessons that cover the basics of blockchain technology, including its benefits for developers, the tools and skills required for developing blockchain solutions, and its applications across various industries.

Additionally, we provide a detailed overview of the HIVE blockchain, highlighting its key features and comparing it with other blockchain platforms. Our curriculum also includes lessons on reading HIVE transactions, building tokens and NFTs on HIVE, and developing decentralized apps.

And to round things out, we also offer lessons on the social side of HIVE, including its reputation and influence system and how to engage with the community. In addition to these lessons, we have several practical projects that give developers the opportunity to put their skills into action.

The UI/UX is in an experimental phase as its actual state was a demo version to show you the functionalities so we plan to make many changes as we get more feedback from users.

The Mid Term Future Of The Project

In the future of our project, we have identified two main focuses for this year's proposal. First, we want to continue improving and building upon our branding.

To do this, we plan to finish the base product by enhancing the UI/UX design, adding video lessons, and gamifying the education through badges that can be NFTs. Once this is complete, we will work on creating connections between our best students and projects that are looking to hire.

Second, we recognize that a good product alone is not enough to sustain our project. Therefore, we plan to focus on content creation and audience building through our HiveKings social media platform.

This will involve creating both short and long-form content for different platforms, including web 2.0 and web 3.0, such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and others to attract a real userbase which will be the hardest but most promising part of the project.

To make HiveDevs sustainable, we plan to add a small author fee in all the posts from our students, which can be offset through sponsorship from projects that want to sponsor a development bounty.

Additionally, we will act as an agency to connect the best projects with the best students. It's important to note that all devs will be able to use the software we develop, and we will continue to upload all updates to gitbhu as it was funded by DHF.

Our ultimate goal is to provide a platform for developers to learn and improve their skills, while also creating a sustainable ecosystem that benefits the entire HIVE blockchain community.

Here are a few thoughts about the next steps in developing the curriculum :

  • There could be much more content on Layer 1, the different libraries, and the different operations available on-chain
  • Iterating on the scripts with the community before shooting the videos could go a long way to make sure you have comprehensive content
  • Most dApps will want to work with a wallet, some education about this would be good (I'm not biased at all ;p)

PS : Missing redirect upon login

A list of operations could really help, I think it should be more as a "you can do this with hive" rather than "this is how you do this operation".

Iterating on the scripts with the community before shooting the videos could go a long way to make sure you have comprehensive content

Good point

Most dApps will want to work with a wallet, some education about this would be good

That sounds like great content, we need to think where should we add it and how.

PS : Missing redirect upon login

ooh, I think it was a commit behind, fixed it.
