First time joining Hive PUD and PUM and why it’s a great choice

I only learned about Hive Power up day (PUD) and Hive Power Up Month (PUM) last month, around February 5. I thought it was a great way to dollar-cost average Hive and to increase my Hive Power.

I was planning to join, but I was informed that I have to participate on the first day of the month. So, I decided to participate this March instead. I had this really great plan to accumulate Hive before March starts. But lo and behold, I didn’t mark it on my calendar. And a few days before, I decided to go on vacation so I wasn’t able to buy on the dips and I only remembered it on the 28th, when the market has already rallied. Anyway, at least I still got to participate.

Why did I decide to join Hive PUD and Hive PUM?

First, because I’m generally bullish on Hive. From what I see, Hive has a lot of potential and I want to invest in the platform. Hive is one of the coins I plan to dollar-cost average. And the best way to DCA Hive, I guess, is by joining Hive PUD and PUM. I can get badges and hopefully, rewards, at the same time I can do it with the community.

Aside from that, I want to have enough Hive Power to delegate to my favorite communities and curators. Curators and the communities had been very warm and encouraging throughout my stay here. By delegating, I can show support to the community and at the same time, potentially earn from it. It’s one of those things Hive does wherein everyone wins.

And overall, I just want to show support to the blockchain. The blockchain has given me a lot. I grew so much as a person because this platform incentivized me to blog. By powering up, I may help stabilize the blockchain.. I do hope my line of thinking is right.. My assumption is correct, right?

So, What’s The Plan?

My plan is to power up a total of 300 Hive for the month so my HP can surpass the 500HP mark. I’d also be buying Hive on dips. To have a clear definition of dips, let’s make it anything below a dollar. But if the market is too bullish, this might change.

For day 1 or Hive Power Up Day, my initial plan was to power up 10 Hive. But I soon realized it was a silly idea since I can get a level 2 badge if I power up at least 50 Hive so I powered up another 40 Hive. Fingers-crossed, the 40 Hive gets counted. If not, then it's okay. I can still participate in Hive PUM.

I read the mechanics for Hive PUM, I only need to power up at least 1 Hive per day or I can set the payment of the post to 100% Hive. As I can’t post every day, I don’t think I can do option 2 and as mentioned, my plan was to power up a total 300 Hive. Today, I already powered up 50 Hive.

Then, I’d be powering up at least 8 Hive per day, multiplied by 30 days, that will be 240 Hive. If I add the 50 Hive I powered up on #HivePUD, it‘s a total of 290 Hive so I’ll just add another 10 on the last day.

As of now, I was already able to purchase 98.32 Hive at 0.974 dollars each which was bought last February 28. Sadly, I was on vacation last week from the 23rd until the 27th. I’m still technically on vacation as I’m staying right now at my grandma’s house so I didn’t get to buy those juicy dips. It pains me to think that I could have bought so much more Hive if I saw that double bottom last 24th? Oh well, next time I am planning to join, I’ll make sure to watch out for sales.

Anyway, here’s to hoping I complete the 300 Hive.
