In February 2024 I’ve achieved my main Silver stacking goal and somewhere in 2025 I will achieve my main Gold stack target leaving me to focus a little more on Crypto and tweaking my conventional self-directed Retirement savings.
“Black birds tend to like shiny things.” ~ The Bloody Raven
Yes, I am going into a little bit of trading and have fired my previous financial planner, hence the term self-directed.
I’m not stopping stacking. No, no, no any further stacking I have been doing are for my relatives and friends that still have far too much faith in our Governments, corporations and central banks in looking after our best interests. In the background they will continue to be the boring Maple Leafs and RCM 10 oz. bars, nothing new as long as I have the cash at the end of the month. Each year I remind myself that I am not just stacking for myself and my immediate family.
In the meantime, you may be seeing more silver from off the beaten track, fun, fringey, or just plain cool stuff from me in the coming year.
The Gift Coin
Remembering my original inspiration; Gramps.
That is what my great-grandpa did when he came to our country. “He always saved for a rainy day.” Said my Dad, “He started a general store and hired anyone who needed a job, loaned or even given a few dollars he’d hardly asked for the money back, expanded the store with a diner, a pool table, and then a much needed post office. His thriving all-in-one business helped the little prairie town survive the depression.
He won the respect of the town and was often invited to the town’s special events. Years later, after moving to the West Coast, to my Dad’s surprise so many people came over just to pay their last respects to our great grandpa. We couldn’t fit everyone into the chapel.
After of piecing together what observations from the few remaining elder branches of the family tree I still couldn’t get a full picture of my G-g-Grandpa’s mindset. He didn’t care about politics, just making friends and “being useful” or ”being helpful.” seem more a motto than mindset. I'll have to make that town an item on my bucket list and mine it's newspaper archives one day.
Now that's a role model I'd like to follow.
That's Life
I’m not going to make predictions, nor set lofty goals, and I will be just as inconsistent as ever in posting depending on my energy and heath.
I am facing changes beyond my control. My health at this point is not very good so I may not likely return to work in the nursing care profession and continue to be on Canada Pension Disability until I'm 65. The income won’t be as good when I was working but more free time for more important priorities, that is focusing on regaining my health and spending as much time with my adult sons as much as possible before they decide to set out on their own. 😥
On my Crypto Front
Well, I didn’t make my 25,000 Hive power goal by the end of this year. Yes, I could power up all my liquid Hive and take the victory lap but a wise Asian pizza establishment owner once said to me, “The Pizza tastes best when it is earned and not simply purchased.” So I’ve allow myself only my usual 100 Hive power up only on Hive Power Up Day and no more. Let's make it to that finish line the right way.
Leo was a 5,000 goal from last year, and I won’t be bent out of shape even if I don’t make that in late 2025 or something to that tune. I like to keep what’s the rest of my life simple and just cruise.
My other holdings of BTC, LTC, and Dogecoin remain as my long termed HODL in my cold wallets strategy.
For Stacking Fun!
And speaking of Leo, I got a bunch of Scottsdale Stacker bars when silvergoldbull.ca put them on sale knocking a hefty $15 off each bar making the premium tolerable but still slightly above the price of a my standard go-to RCM 10 oz. silver bar. The difference will be my FUN premium.
I still love the Crowned Lion logo of the Scottsdale mint, reminding me of the CS Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia, Aslan being the central Character. I do like the rounds version but felt it not quite enough of a statement. I’ve always thought of getting a set of these to play with. Stacking and re-stacking into different ways on my desk while I think of a witty blog comment to write or for just plain fidgeting sake.
It was in September when the stars aligned, the spot price was down, the USD was down, so I doubled my (DCA) Dollar Cost Average buy this time around. With the latest downdraft in spot price I hope I could get another pair of these to form a three stepped stack for a total of six bars.
I'm getting too long for this New Years Post so,
I bid thee well to all my Hive friends and family, a most happy and prosperous New Year! 🥂

Physical precious metals bullion stacking is only a part of my personal overall financial strategy. Meanwhile, collecting numismatics are a different set of objectives and strategy. Unless you are a complete nutcase as I am please, do your research before deciding to buy into any bullion or numismatic products.
