Making Some Moves On Money Monday- Hive LEO and Monero

in #inleoyesterday

It's been a good day today, but now without a bit of disappointment that ended up turning into a different opportunity, so it all worked out in the wash. If you have been following me for any length of time, you know I am working on building a solar powered mining farm that I am going to use to build my stacks powered by the sun! Well, I had completed all the purchases needed to get the system going, just waiting on processing and shipping, but all while, I have the miner in hand and turned it on last night!

Waking Up To New Money!

One thing I love about mining crypto is that you get to wake up to freshly minted money, every single day! It's a pretty cool feeling. This kind of gets you into a bit of an addiction for passive income. Well, with today being Money Monday around my house, and the fact that I can't do my normal stock trading for my family fund because of the Trump inauguration, I decided to make some moves in crypto to expand my passive income efforts.

WBTC to HIVE

After paying for all the solar gear and miner, I had some left over in my DEFI account that was burning a virtual hole in my wallet. I started doing the math, with some help of Grok because let's face it, I am not the best mathematician so I needed a bit of help. I figured that instead of letting the WBTC and USDT sit in Aave, I was going to make some moves. The first was moving all the remaining WBTC into HIVE. I did this through Simpleswap which was an easy transfer.

HIVE to LEO

Once I was in HIVE, I made another decision that with the price of LEO taking a big dip this morning, that I was going to take a Hive shaped spoon and scoop up some of that LEO dip. So I went into the Hive Keychain swap and went to Hive/LEO and entered the amount of Hive I wanted to spend. This gave me over 1800 LEO that I then went and staked! This put me over 2K LEO staked which exceeds my goal I was looking to get to by the end of the month, actually 2x my goal!

Powered Up Hive and Delegated

So next, I went and powered up the remaining 1000 HIVE I had from the WBTC trade. I have a goal for the year to get my account back up to the dolphin level of 5000 HIVE staked, so this put me way closer to my goal than I was before!

What I am using some of this HP for is to delegate to the @leo.voter account to help add more voting power to that account and to earn more staked LEO! So I bumped my delegation up from 700 to 1500 HP!

Bought A New Miner... Sort Of

The next move I made was to take some of my USDT left in the DEFI account on Polygon and buy another DOGE miner. I was looking at one, and had it in my cart, that is the version 1 of the miner I bought, which is the version 3. I used 300USDT and bought an eBay gift card from Bitrefill, but learned that I cannot buy 'virtual currency' miners with gift cards... What a crock of crap if you ask me.

So instead of pitching a fit about it, I decided to pivot to my other coin that I love to mine, Monero! I have been looking at getting a Mac Mini M2 for a while anyway, primarily to mine Monero on a SUPER efficient CPU that only uses 30W max, which is perfect to add to my solar powered mining farm. So I found myself a little 'loophole' in the fact that I can buy a computer with a gift card that I will also use to mine crypto!

This machine will mine Monero, as well as mine a bit of DOGE and LTC with my USB mini miner, the Futurebit Moonlander 2, plugged into it. I am currently running that same setup on an old Macbook Pro, but it gets next to nothing for hashrate on Monero because the battery is dead, and when MBP batteries die, the CPU is extremely down throttled. I may see if I can get the battery replace, but that would be close to $200 and probably not worth it to be honest. So I'll retire that machine and move the USB ASIC miner over the the new Mac Mini!

So all in all, it's been a pretty good Money Monday around here! I got to power up some LEO and HIVE, got a new Monero miner that I had been wanting anyway, and got to learn a very valuable lesson that I cannot buy actual crypto miners with eBay gift cards. But it is what it is and what it did was boost up my passive income strategies like I wanted! I think that's more valuable in the long run than holding onto one coin that makes no yield!

Until next time...

Be cool, be real, and always abide with you my dudes!

I’d really love for you to write a detailed article about your entire setup, the costs involved, and what it allows you to generate. It’s truly fascinating, thank you for this read!

Patience, lol. I don't even have the solar setup yet. It's all been purchased, just hasn't arrived. All in due time. I just have the miner up and running on grid power right now while I wait.
