In 1930 three dollars is enough for a fine movie and posh dinner for two. Under a sawbuck with change to spare for 5 cent popcorn.
Some members may recall of my boasting of driving a modified black 1937 Packard Hearse 4x4 with a flaming skull on the hood and a big black pirate flag hanging off the CB Antennae. That is my alter ego’s choice. It's what can happen when you have dual personalities.
Call me old fashioned, my dream wheels.
As for myself I prefer a more refined choice as my dream car. Something a little more stately, a touch of class without being too opulent, and a little reputation as a bad boy.
At 125 HP, dats Horse Power giving these wheels more pep for dat quick get-away and with the same engine will purrr smoothly and easily on a slow cruise down Rodeo Drive.
When this baby came out into the streets just after the world was cast into an Economic upheaval. America was plunged into The Great Depression. And the cost of some basic goods in 1930... get a load of dis.
Roast Prime rib or T-bone steak Entrée: $0.40 USD.
Up to a $1.00 at more lavish restaurants in Manhattan.
Movie ticket price; $0.20 to $0.25.
Most Pleb cars cost $640.
Average household income: $1,970.
Average Home Price: $7,145
Cost of a gallon of Gas: $0.20.
Loaf of bread $0.09.
1 dozen eggs: $0.45.
1 lb. Round Steak: $0.43.

If I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb, she can be dressed down with fewer details and appointments. For the night out I'll ditch the flapper outfit and dress up in something more up to date.

Put this number all together with black Opera gloves and fedora I am set for a fine Night out in vintage style with the boys.
