Another Restaurant Opens Planning to Run With No Staff

There are some businesses that are beginning to trial no cashiers or staff to see how it goes. One for example has been 7-Eleven that has previously tested a store that doesn't have any cashiers to see if it would work.

Around the world in different regions you can find variations of this approach in getting rid of cashiers and opting for self-checkout. As well as embracing robot staff instead of human hosts or waitresses as well.

Would you dine with no staff?

Many people today have demonstrated that they don't mind self-checkout for buying food or skipping the service and instead pouring their own beer. Different eateries or breweries have expanded on the no staff service and it is working well in multiple circumstances, it is likely that we will see more of it.

The first restaurant of its kind with no staff in the UK is a ramen shop expected to open this winter.

The idea is to provide 24 hour access to food and they will have a pay subscription model where members need a day pass or monthly pass.

  • With the pass those visits are supposed to be capped though.

  • You will be able to find both hot and cold food there but no staff to serve it as usual.

For those businesses that might find it too unsafe to operate this could be an alternative for them instead of closing up and moving elsewhere.

Maybe we might start seeing more of them in regions that have seen businesses close up because of unaddressed tent city issues or increased crime.

Vending machine eating

The no staff restaurants offer a much larger vending machine eating experience in the restaurant environment and these sorts of business operations have already been embraced by many.

  • Not only can they be more cost effective for the business owner but this could also help to reduce costs for the consumers too if they pass it on.

  • Some restaurants have had unreliable business hours as they've struggled to keep positions filled in the last couple of years. There shouldn't be that sort of issue with this restaurant design either.

With the multiple benefits offered it's easy to assume this trend might continue around the world.

a mix of food and NFTs

The store is also expected to feature an art gallery where a Mukbang NFT will be going up for sale. It's expected to be a place where people can also learn about NFTs and not just find food and relax. Those who purchase the Mukbang NFT are allegedly going to be able to then eat at the restaurant for free.

If we are able to serve it to ourselves (everything is available/accessible), then there should be no problem. But who would wash the dishes after we finish eating? Will there be a washing machine, or we have to wash it ourselves? How would this part work?

there might not be any dishes to wash, maybe toss them away like fast food locations
