For some it might be politics that is pushing them to make the move to a new state, for many others it is looking for a higher standard of living. In California there is a real estate and affordability crisis, among other problems, and for millions of people that has them looking to leave and go elsewhere.
It is the same situation for many other folks around the US in other regions too where things have gotten too expensive or the quality of life has degraded too far. This means looking for greener pastures and apparently places like Texas and Florida have risen to the top for many.
From California to Texas
One of the more popular areas to move to has been Texas and it's estimated that some 1 in 10 new Texas residents are from California.
Texas is said to have added more new residents last year than any other state.
It is no secret that many Californians have made the switch and the competition between the two regions has escalated to the point of suspicious billboards popping up around San Francisco urging people to re-think plans about moving to Texas.
The exodus for California has meant that hundreds of thousands of people just last year have picked up and moved to other areas. Who knows how many others are planning the same.
In the last several years they've also seen hundreds of companies get out of California and move elsewhere as well. Some of them even left for Texas too.
Thanks to that increase in movers however, that significant growth and boost in demand has meant pressure going up in rental prices and real estate. There are some cities struggling with affordability too and thousands of houses are needed to be built to keep up with the growing and current demand.
The state has been ranked among the best though for businesses in the US and that has no doubt been a draw for the number of businesses that have already navigated to this region from California or somewhere else. It is no mystery why people might head to a place where they think there will be a higher standard of living for them.
