Haiti is seeing protests unfold as they've recently planned to hike fuel prices in the region.
It has been reported that there have been road blocks, burning tires, and protesters allegedly throwing stones in anger over the price hikes, among other frustrations.
The people here are already struggling financially with inflation and this move has the potential to push many further down in regards to their standard of living. Thousands have protested in the region over their discontent with the move.
It's also alleged that some Haitian journalists have been killed while they had been trying to report on the violence that has been going on.
Government cannot afford to subsidize fuel
This means that some individuals are already looking to leave the region and start a new life elsewhere, because they can't see any hope or opportunity coming that things will get better.
This summer people there saw the inflation rate creep over 30 per cent. This is one of the regions that suffers from extreme hardship where it is estimated that millions of people are struggling in poverty.
