I’m quite happy seeing my former roommate’s orchid fully blooming once again. There is a very subtle sweet fragrance from this delightfully exotic flowers. Their previous blooms were almost to the week a year ago before Deb left home to be with the Lord. The timing gives me a new sense of renewal, reflection, and a bit of joy understanding that she is at a far better place.

I was in the process of crafting my second Junk Silver post when my Monster Raffle prize package arrived by registered mail. Great memories, as I recall back on July 20th the community gathered around the Discord server with an air of electric anticipation and a party atmosphere.
Both @welshstacker and @buggedout performed a fine, problem free program and made the process clear and easily understood so that there would be no confusion. Luck would have it, my number and name happened to be drawn among the last three remaining prizes left.
I wasn’t expecting to win anything this time around, buying considerably less tickets than the previous one but considering having a number of new members joining our community this year I was looking forward to seeing some of our junior members scoring a prize or two.
I chose one of @bitcoinman’s Canadian silver coin prizes because this form of silver is ideal for Emergency commerce being formerly legal tender and easily recognizable in my home country as REAL Money. Even if there is an orderly economic transition I can always pass these coins on to my next generation as generational wealth. Adding another 2.1+ oz. Silver to my stack of, of ...darn, I lost count.
Thank you @bitcoinman for this absolutely smashing prize though I thought your Interest premium may be a bit exaggerated since silver is after all an inflationary hedge. 😉
And thank you everyone who made this traditional event exciting and a blast. The Monster Raffle will always endeavor to showcase the #silvergoldstackers community’s unique and shiny place in the greater Hive Community. ❤️
My mid-summer Gardening Results
As most of my followers know I delved into gardening as a part of my spiritual therapy and escape from this noisy chaotic world. My little paradise on earth started as a junkyard has made some progress thought it may not look much yet, it now looks like a junk-ish yard.
I don’t know which species of rose this may be but it was neglected for years, it desperately needs some tender loving care. Fertilized for the first time in years subsisting on indirect sunshine this bloom has a remarkable fragrance for its small size. It’s a keeper and survivor!
These Day Lilies are my personal favorite. I planted two rows of these on my front yard about eight years ago. They have reliable bloom for almost weeks mid-July, right after the tulips, and before my pink roses. My Halloween colors in July.
The heritage pole beans had a slow start. I thought I started them too early but finally some tasty results. The bush type beans didn’t do as well. Beans are one of my first choices in growing calorie dense foods should economic conditions put a big strain on my family’s nutrition and buying us some measure of seasonal food independence. I will be working on expanding my growing capacity.
Two varieties; Norland violet skinned and Columba white skinned potatoes. What’s here are about 20% of the total crop. The plant tops died off earlier than expected resulting with some medium sized with most being ‘small’ potatoes. I think we can do better here. We’re steaming some of these whole for supper. Again, choosing calorie dense foods for some degree of food independence or give it away to a neighbor who needs it more than I do.
These cherry tomatoes are disappearing faster than I can grow them. That may explain why my eldest son is not hungry for supper time lately. I have another variety of pot grown medium tomatoes coming up next month.
Lessons learned
Like the potatoes, the beets, bok choy vegetables seemed to be stunted and have gone straight to flowering. I believe I didn’t water them enough since my local utilities placed watering restrictions on public use of water resources. Watering by using an 8 liter watering can only, just sucks. I’m pulling out the garden hose.
My first year back into gardening has mixed results but the payoff is that I am re-learning some long forgotten skills and passions I had. I will continue to build on the old with new skills and knowledge until I have my little piece of paradise.
I am still on medical leave for the foreseeable future but fate has it that I remain busy with personal and family affairs. Meanwhile, I plan to set aside some seed for next year's growing season.🌱
Stacking seed, Hive, and Precious metals for that dark and stormy night!
