Another CEX Bites The Dust

in #leofinancelast year

Bittrex is the second CEX that I used when I first got into crypto back in 2017 / 2018. It was a fairly good exchange with decent prices, easy to understand interface, easy to deposit and not so much KYC.

All things considered, I think they've maintained their value proposition over the last six years. When they shut down their US operations, overseas investors were minimally impacted and you wouldn't have noticed anything.

Out of the blue

With the switch to the Bittrex Global branding, I thought the worst was behind it and that it would chug along as it always has been.

That's why I was surprised to get an email from Bittrex stating that they were closing down and that I needed to withdraw my funds off it. If there's a silver lining to this, I found out I had a bit of crypto lying around in another exchange that I hardly use.

If you missed out on the email and have some funds on Bittrex, do remember to withdraw them by the 4th of December. I'd advise that you do so sooner because things may start getting wonky as the lights go out.

Bittrex, you will be missed!
