Some time not that long ago within a blockchain not so far away I noticed a Hiven that I follow (@tsnaks) using something called @commentrewarder. How did I know this, tsnaks said so in their post. I didn't give the initiative much thought until payout day came along and I got a wallet message stating " !tip @rentmoney/snu1pe @tsnaks app:cr message:👍" with a transaction showing I earned extra HIVE above and beyond any curation rewards I might of got for voting on tsnaks original post. This caused me to do a little digging to see what this Comment Rewarder initiative was all about. Going to the Comment Rewarder official Hive Blog I can see the account was created on September of 2024. Which points to them being a relatively new initiative. This is good news for me because that means I won't have to scroll so much to find their introduction post. Boom here it is Introducing Comment Rewarder - A new service to reward comments. As the name indicates, the initiatives goal is to help reward those who comment on created content. This is accomplished by the creator of content setting @commentrewarder to the beneficiary list and choose 3% or more.
What Is Comment Rewarder?
Offiical CommentRewarder Quote:
Comment Rewarder (CR) is a bot that rewards comments. CR helps low-stake authors (and all authors) reward their audience. Not all blog authors have enough Hive Power to upvote replies to reach the dust threshold, and rewarding comments incentivizes engagement. Authors with lower Hive Power may not have a weighty enough vote to successfully reward replies to their posts because of the ~$0.02 “dust” threshold. CR solves this problem.
I think this is an awesome initiative that is very likely being underused by the Hive Blockchain. As pointed out in the quote above there is plenty of reasons why a Hiven might want to use this service. (1) Low Stake authors wanting to reward their followers (2) Voting Power Zapped (no worries Comment Rewarder has you covered while you rest (3) Anything else that your imagination can muster such as what I'm about to do in this post (more on that later: don't leave yet: there's still move information to share ;) You the author will get to decide on what comments receive the extra rewards. If you see a comment that you don't want getting rewarded simply don't vote on it and when Comment Rewarder divvies out rewards the non voted comment will be skipped. Comments downvoted by the author will also get skipped. There is a 3 day age limit. Meaning, if an author decides to vote a comment after the three day mark of post creation, that comment will not get to share in the rewards that have been designated to Comment Rewarder to split among those who qualify. Minimum transfer amount is 0.001 Hive/HBD anything smaller will be skipped. The rewards are split between eligible comments, based on the weight of the OP's (Authors) upvotes. Meaning if the author vote a comment at 10% and a second comment at 20% the comment you voted the higher percentage on will receive a higher percentage of rewards that Comment Rewarder will hand out on the authors behalf.
Of course I'm going to have to test this out and I see no better post to do that in than this one right here. I'll be handing out 50% of the rewards this post earns to those who comment below. Only comments with substance will be getting voted on at a rate of 10%. Because I like rewarding my Followers here on the Hive Blockchain, if you leave a comment of substance plus are following me I will double the vote weight to 20%. A higher vote rate will mean will you will receive a higher share of the rewards that Comment Rewarder will divvy out on my behalf to qualified comments.
