Over the past year, we discussed the idea of AI taking over the world of entertainment. During that period, I pointed out how Hollywood is in trouble. It is being disrupted by technology. The companies are primed for it since the interest of the parties are all varied.
What this means is that outsider can enter in a way that was not possible before.
When forecasting how things are going to unfold, it is best to look at the makeup of the industry and how the fringe is rising up. A lot of this has to do with volume along with changing expectations.
Many will doubt what I state. There is the tendency to not believe things. Some feel that AI is not the threat presented. A lot believe their jobs are special because a machine cannot duplicate their talents.
These people often range from arrogant to delusional. Sadly, this is not relegated to one industry. Also, what we are seeing from AI is going to be wide spread.

Hollywood Disruption
Hollywood is facing a technological disruption to a degree we never have seen before. This is going to make the retail apocalypse look minor.
We are seeing a transition that is going to take place over just a few years. These properties, i.e. movie studios, are in deep trouble. The entire industry is up for grabs.
The first wave was the breaking the monopoly on distribution. This happened years ago yet the industry was insulated because it still controlled the content creation. It is getting to the point where this is changing.
AI is a threat and there is nothing that can be done to stop it. Few in Hollywood (or outside) are aware of the magnitude of what we are dealing with.
Have you ever heard of TCLtv+? Yeah, neither had I. Regardless of that, here is a short film they put together.

This is a rather short film that is a bit cheesy. It isn't of the best quality.
What this is was the first attempt at an AI generated film. This one was created by a computer. TCLtv+ is a company that is focused on generating AI films.
The key is that we are looking at the technology being the worst it will ever be. In another 2 years, it will be far superior to what we see now.
A problem is created when there are 1,000 entities like this company. Whatever the level of quality, there will be a small percentage who are able to get it close to what we see out of Hollywood.
Naturally, it stands to reason that major studios are going to ultimately adopt this. However, they might be a bit slow since they have a lot of variables to consider. This is why entities get disrupted. The threat appears and everyone wants to protect their eggs like nothing is happening.
The Path To Personalized Entertainment
Hollywood studios are designed for mass appeal. By this I mean they create films that get millions watching.
What happens when a theater is packed? Everyone is seeing the same film. That is not the future.
Like many things emerging, we are going to reach the point of personalized films. This means we will have the software create something specifically for us.
At present, we can go to an image generator, enter a prompt, and it will create a unique image. When one changes the prompt, another image is produced.
Films will be this way at some point. We are going to be able to enter a few parameters of what we desire and a full length film will be generated.
This is something I believe we will see towards the end of the decade although the advancement could come sooner. It all depends upon how the progress of generative AI unfolds. Things will slow down at some point, the question is how much?
Either way, the future of entertainment is changing. Live events will still be highly desired since they cannot be easily replaced by AI (although holograms do hold some interesting potential).
Much of the rest is up for grabs.
