I am never sure whether Sunday supper is the end to the weekend or the start to the week. Either way, "doing it" with a Weber chicken and (a giant) one of my favourite summer salads is good.
It - the salad - also gave me the opportunity to use one of my new pots. I haven't had new cookware for years since this time last year.
A potty digression
Last year, like this, a local chain ran a promotion with the MasterChef brand. Then, I was able to get a new wok and a pair of omelette pans at hugely discounted rates. The quality is fantastic and if I play my cards right, won't need to buy new ones again. Ever.
Am I happy with the pots? Sort of. It's not a quality issue, but rather the size. Because. Size. Does. Count. The "bean" pot is smaller than I expected - even having compared the dimensions with the one it's intended to replace.
The "little" saucepan above, is bigger than I expected and came with no lid. So, instead of replacing like with like, I've got something(s) sort in between. It doesn't matter, but like all humans, I'm both a creature of habit and I know what equipment works for what dish/product. This means I will have to work out whether I really can get rid of at lease one of the pots I inherited from my mother (20+ years ago, when they were 20+ years old), and which don't "like" cooking on gas.
Back to the beans
The pot worked. Well, of course it would. There was no reason why it wouldn't. I do love this bean salad.
Lightly cooked beans, diced tomatoes with a vinaigrette and fresh basil. The plan with the huge salad - and the roast chicken - always is - to have some of both left over for week night meals. Lots of cold chicken and salad on this week's menu - we're expecting a hot one. And it's a busy one with at least one evening meeting. So supper already "done" makes life just that easier.
A good way to end the weekend and start the week.
Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:
- re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
- and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
- From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.
