In 2024 I
- got engaged
- achieved a goal of being promoted to "senior" of my prior title
- as a result of 2 people leaving my team I got an accelerated promotion to Manager 18 months sooner than I expected. (I probably deserved it sooner but that was the expected timeframe). I had a goal to become manager 2 years after being made senior. And also received a retention bonus at the end of Q3 and Q4 of 2024 with the contract to be a manager. The timing was good because my fiance can't work at the moment so me getting extra money makes it easier to support our life on one income.
- survived the burnout of the turmoil at work - some days I felt like giving up on the job completely but made it through anyway.
- did my first interviews to add team member to my team and successfully hired the right candidate
- reduced my debt
- ran a 10k
- studied a lot and passed CFA level 1
- I took 10 weeks of an evening online 2-hour Japanese classes to improve my Japanese. I'm not great yet but basics are improving
- visited family in Europe
Bad things happened too which is par for the course but I weathered those as best as I could. I am thankful for the year I had and hope that 2025 is a great, happy and peaceful year for everyone.
