I have been missing in action for a while now due to relocating to a new country. Packing up your entire life into two suitcases and a carry on backpack is rather challenging .... and stressful to boot !!
So finally we arrived in Italy on 30 March... and stayed in our (previously intended for quarantine) AirBnb located in Ferno, Lombardi.
Our hostess was not available so we stood around waiting for an hour or so
Yes, a combined 12 decades of life crammed into that luggage. I was unable to bring my desktop computer, HiFi and vinyl and much other emotional attachment possessions.... but my intention is to stay a light traveler with minimal possessions from now on
The first image is a view from the balcony of the accomodation, the pasta was my arabiata linguine prepared in the small kitchen.
In the week we were there we walked over 67 km's ...
Hauling over 100 kg's of luggage around is no fun .... especially cobbled streets, on and off trains and busses. We were rather put out by the steep increase in Uber costs !! The 7 km's from airport to AirBnb set us back 34 Euros ... in our home currency that feeds us for more than a week.
We caught a train into Milan to organise data and voice ... what a pleasant surprise, cost-wise. 150 Gb of data for 10 Euro a month with unlimited voice calls within Italy.
First image was a delightful steamed bun bought in Milan's China Town, then a panini also extremely reasonably priced. How is that plant covered building!!
On Sunday we moved to our next stop CORBETTA, a bit closer to Milan where we will be staying until the end of the month. I was chafing at the bit to get back online ... so we made a plan yesterday.
Borrowed bike from our host and pedaled the 8km's to the shopping mall and bought a laptop, another pleasant surprise price wise
This accommodation is not as upmarket as the previous but after we scrubbed and cleaned for half a day the place is definitely livable.

I think that is enough for my first post in my new country.... did I mention the language barrier is a BIG challenge??? Even this laptop keys are all in Italian and laid out differently to the standard layout. It took me hours to setup and change the system settings to English
Thanks for stopping by and remember to stay safe and live each day ... tomorrow is not promised.
