S. Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has been in office since 2022, and has faced a hostile majority in Parliament making it difficult for him to move forward his policies. Today he has declared Martial law. Parliament has barricaded itself in, military forces are respecting the chain of command that puts them at the behest of President Koon.

Parliament has voted to lift the state of Martial law and threatens to prosecute those acting on it for treason.
Despite the threats from Parliament the military says Martial law will remain until the President lifts it.
US Ambassador says the situation is fluid, and they are monitoring closely.
