The American River
I live near a beautiful river in the middle of a small city.
It is so nice to walk a block and be in nature.
The American River in Sacramento California is a wonderful river that is still very pristine in most places in spite of being below the Folsom Dam.
I grew up riding the bike trails and rafting down this river for most of my life.
It pours into the Sacramento River which is not as pretty of a river because it is very muddy.
You have to be careful and not eat to much of the fish though because of the mercury that is still in the water from all of the gold mining that took place during the California gold rush.
It is amazing that after 100 years it is still a problem.
My sweetheart and I take our dogs for walks all the time. It is a perfect little walk to wear them out. We have three Chihuahuas
so getting them exercise is very important.
The spring time greenery is awesome right now with every thing starting to bloom.
I love to go there and pick wild grapes and Blackberries when they are in season. There are many types of medicinal plants and herbs along with mushrooms there also. I want to learn more about wildcrafting because it is such a close resource.
I don't think that these pictures depict the real beauty but I hope you can get an idea.
All pictures were taken by me.
