Would you play Hive Minecraft?

I am looking at revisiting my Steem Minecraft project on Hive. I setup a server in the past but never announced it to the public.

I setup a new server today and was doing some customization and choosing mods.

I am curious though if many would be interested in it.
This isn't your typical vanilla Minecraft server, it has fairly demanding requirements.

Ideally you are going to want 16GB of ram, but you can get by with 8GB. This is because you want to configure your Minecraft install to use 6-12G of ram and still have enough for your operating system.

You don't need a super current CPU or GPU, but ram is critical.

You also need a valid license of Minecraft for PC ($26.95).

The world will be survivial with many tech and magic mods to allow for many unique options.

I am not sure there is enough people who would be interested and have the Gaming PCs to play, so if it is something you would be interested in, please speak up in the comments.

The server would be whitelist only, but there would be no requirements to be whitelisted, just hop on Discord and share your Minecraft username and you would be added to the server. This is to avoid having an open server that anyone can come in and grief.

Users will be able to claim land so no one can grief their buildings.

A central are around spawn will be built over time as a community safe spot.

Over time, I'd be looking at ways to integrate Hive into the game and run building contests and other challenges.

I watch my grandkids play Minecraft often and have played a little but don’t know it well

To be honest I am not sure I would find the time to play it but maybe

Play Hive-Vallheim!!

I have Valheim, but not sure there would be enough players.

I ran a Valheim server for Hive and we had about 8 active players on it.

It's really quite awesome can't wait for the outcome of it.

If our home computer has enough RAM I’d be interested. My son likes Minecraft, he can teach me:-)

I'd for sure do it, IF I had a system to handle those requirements, lol (with a sad face).

I could probably get my son @w-Splatts to play. Him and his buddies get rowdy on the ol’ Minecraft. Lol

Is it Java or Bedrock? I have the latter only.

you need to now convert your Java account to log in on Windows gaming. If you do not convert your game you will lose it.

I wrote a post about it Here

I never had a Java account. it is now, and always has been, a Windows account.

oh, sorry, I misunderstood

I'd be interested in checking it out when I can.

A few months ago I created a server for the HiveGC community, at the beginning there were a lot of motivated people, but after a while many stopped playing. The server was simple, it was a vanilla, no mods or anything like that. I personally would be interested in playing and my pc is enough to do it. So if there are more people interested too, then I'm in.

I'd join if only I have a PC : ((
I'm still saving up for a better gaming phone or a cheap PC.

Hey ...It's first time I am reading your blog.Anyway your project impressive.I like that security idea. Are you also one Game developer?

I have developed some games on iOS, Android, and Hive.

Wow..Nice to hear that .I will keep try to read your blog .I hope I will learn lot from you. Thanks for your feedback.

I would be down. I have played on a few servers with people from the blockchain and we had a blast.

I would love this, but would it be possible to not have forge. M1 mac chips are incompatible with minecraft forge due to a graphics library bug that has not been fixed yet.

I know a couple of people who might consider it:
@ewan-d
@notears
I loved minecraft, but not sure I want to jump back in again.
You never know.... maybe if you intergrate it with hivepunks somehow ;p

I love Minecraft so I wouldn't mind playing this but my only problem will be that I don't have a gaming PC but this is a pretty rad idea.

I thought I was a gamer but coming to hive I realized I was a learner splinter lands, Gods unchained, this and so on.

I need to get myself a gaming system though. Any recommendations?

Well minecraft is GOAT
It would be great to socialize with other hive community users, and challenges would also be very fun and great thing to do in minecraft,IM IN!

Among other things.

Saw this on twitter today and thought of your post ...

Let's do this

The requirements are a bit tough oooo. But,if I get by them, I know I'd consistently play 😎

They are, Vanilla doesn't require much, but this is a massive mod pack with tons of functionality.

I love the idea, seems pretty cool, and I have plenty of time...let's see.

Would i still get a chess match with you?

I'm not too sure about the RAM requirements but it certainly sounds interesting.

Wow! This is a nice one. Kudos🙂

I would love this!! I have to double-check my username and will let you know what it is. it's one of 3 names. Just not sure which. But this would be so cool!!

@Ecoinstant and I use to have a private server and I miss that!

I think the better option is to get into Unity as a platform to build a game.

With your resources and ideas you can come up with a better game the minecraft as as Hive blockchain game.

I found this post searching for this answer actually. Ive been thinking... Why do we not have a Hive server for Minecraft yet? Is there a group? We need to make this happen so we can build a Hive city as a group. I am in @themarkymark ! Please send me invite details I will join in.

Just join the discord listed in the post and enter your hive and Minecraft name in the whitelist channel.

very good idea, it's the best post I've seen at the moment, good job

Yes I will sir

Sounds like fun. Years since I played minecraft, and not sure I got time atm. Remember to integrate hive punks!

Amazing. There's one project like that in Wax, it's named Uplift. You might wanna check it out for inspiration/innovation.

I have the requirements and I would be interested! 👋

Great idea, I once saw a minecraft server that had private keys in chests and whoever found the chests got access to the funds, but it was a race to transfer it out before someone else found it.

I think there are heaps of good ways to incorporate crypto into minecraft. Excited about what you can do with this.

I would.
Not a super gamer but I like the idea to play around with other hive users. Have an experience Upliftworld did connecting a server for the WAX community and creating some interactions. We created (my son did :) a haunted castle in our land which was linked to our wax account through an NFT, an ancient boat, and some other buildings.
I believe it is a cool idea.

I would like to play, I think I have a gaming PC, I can try at least.

I never played minecraft but it sounds like a cool project to bring to Hive. Games seem to have been pretty successful in the past and have definitely helped to blockchain grow. This project seems like another step in the right direction

I'd love to play and have at least one other who would be onboard.

Minecraft + Crypto + Beer = Happiness!

Random that I started playing Minecraft for the first time ever.
I'd join the server if only to check it out.
I got a young nephew that's super into the game.

A server with mods and probably incredibly difficult will not be a nice experience for someone just starting out XD.

Nah, it's fine.

hola amigo, me parece una buena idea

I regularly play, together with the entire family, on Switch (Bedrock version). We would have hence loved to join, but this will be for another time as we have no computer version of the game. Too bad...

Minecraft on Hive? Now that's a dream come true!

I most certainly would be very interested in playing it. But considering that i only play Minecraft on my phone and Tab, I might not be able to play this one. However, i might just consider getting a Gaming Pc just for this. It's sounds very promising!

Just looking at the PC requirements. 8GB ram will definitely lag.

Yes, 8G will run, and you can get 40 or so FPS so it is definitely playable. But 16G is ideal so you can allocate 8G+ dedicated to the game.

It's been a long time since I've Minecrafted... but...

This isn't your mom's minecraft, this is hard core.

To put things in perspective, in the past I ran wifi networks in game around my base and to my remote mining turtles and had programmed computers in game using Lua to automate my nuclear reactor to efficiently charge my power cells.

You did what? How's that even possible?

Modded Minecraft is like comparing driving around the world in a shopping cart and driving a McLaren.

Minecraft building Time can be used to validate PoW or PoB Style, but I'm not sure how big of a project that would be in the end. Sounds massive for sure.

untitled.gif

That is admittedly a bit more technical than what I was used to... I thought I was getting pretty good having figured out farming.

"This isn't your mom's minecraft..."

🤣 Well said, you start by dipping your toes into the world of minecraft mods, then next thing you know you've got a PHD in nuclear engineering.
I really liked Thaumium, felt like a good blend of science and magic and they really put a lot of work into it.

I would! I thought about doing something like that but the issue would be the hackers. Where there is financial incentive there are hackers and Minecraft has way too mine hacker IMO

It is a private server to Hive community only, will require request to be added to the whitelist.

I'm up for it, my PC can handle modpacks with shaders on so I think I'm fine.

The Discord server and whitelist are good ideas to keep things running smoothly, but anti-cheat plugins and other such measures most definitely need to be implemented as well. A server that incorporates any sort of financial incentive or that's to be played by lots of people needs safety from that. This isn't 2b2t haha.

I ran Minecraft servers years ago, from Alpha to final release 1.12
I have some experience, and when you open it up, things can get messy.

Yo, that's a good idea. My pc doesn't have 16 ram but if you say it will run with 8, I'm in for sure.

@perceval created a vanilla Minecraft 1.17.1 server a couple of months ago in the HiveGC community and we were playing up to 11 users at the same time (not a lot of people, but we created a lot of cool stuff). It was an amazing idea and I think a pretty cool experience, we had to close it because in the end many of us didn't have time (in my case, I was preparing my trip to Bogota, city where I currently live).

Although, my biggest question is: So the server won't be on Minecraft Java? Or why do you say it's a requirement to have a Minecraft PC license? We play the java version via launchers.

EDIT: You can check one of the posts from the Perceval's server: It has been completely worth it | All my progress in Hivecraft. It's about 3 months old, so I hope you don't mind.

Bro you live in Bogota? What do you do there?

Living a better life than in Venezuela!

I would even give that a second thought, and maybe that would be something that my partner would jump on too

Modded could be cool but I would need to get a new PC still for 1.18, I have been playing in the @skyroad server from @immanuel94 since Steem days and lucky for me he has a thing that allows me to play 1.16.5 while everyone else plays 1.17 , and they have awesome build contests each week for winning HP. He also has a system that allows you to store Minecraft builds on-chain and import them again that he has been working on. More Minecraft is never bad though so just a little more push for me to update my old ass PC lol.
