Introduction

@ablaze has been doing 3 tune Tuesday for quite a while and we love the idea of it and some of the posts @stickupmusic has been doing it but I though I would join in too. it is a great way to listen to new music which is always something we want to do!

Our picks

This week we are all about the legend Tom Petty. I had a friend that used to love him. I had to listen to him by default, I cant say I like him much at first but he grew on me and now I love him, especially when driving on a road trip!

Song 1

There is a simplicity to his music sometimes, very simple beat and chords, easy going vocal melody but it just works. The rolling chugging of this song bought to life by some great backing vocals manages to make this on of my favourite songs. It also has a great message....

Song 2

Learning to Fly again is a very simple song with quite a pop sensibility to it. Again it follows the same formula as most of his top songs a simple chord structure and rhyth with some nice backing guitars and then later comes the backing vocal which really let the song breathe.

Song 3

I left my favourite song until last. I don't know why I love this song so much but I think it caught me at the right time and resonated. It has a great guitar riff which might help. There is again a sense of travelling about this song like so many of his songs. Like I said I love him in the car on a road trip with the windows down. "There is something good waiting down this road" So get on the road with the legend himself.

We love all types of music and hope that you like our choices!

Big up all the music in the world and the joy we get making and listening to it!

There are very special and interesting songs that are very good to listen to and pass the time well.

Excellent selections for this week - I could listen to Tom Petty all day long! "Runnin' Down a Dream" is in a league of its own and needs to to be cranked up 🔈🔉🔊loud!

@tipu curate

I've played some of his songs. I wasn't really aware of him until he had those big hits in the 80s. I do like this one.

oh yes thats a cool song I did not find him until a lot later but there is definitely a certain easiness to his songs and instrumentation that appeals. simple but cool!
