Hello there!
It's been a week full of events. In addition to the work for which I am paid, I had a long todo list - calls and visits. It's finally Saturday, my day off that I plan to spend relaxing and home.
Yesterday ended with intriguing news from Russia, at night I heard the sounds of explosions again in my sleep, and unfortunately, fragments of a shot down rocket fell on one of the residential buildings in Kyiv. So, in the morning, my first thought was - "What's up?"
My morning has not brought so many emotions, news and memes for a long time. This one I like the most: "I have to pay tribute to the General Staff. The counterattack really started in an unexpected place.".😁
Ukrainians are highly creative, they produce brilliant jokes and memes, and they help us to overcome uncertainty and stress.
Prigozhin to Zaluzhny: "Where's the ammunition?"
Finally, Prigozhin received shells from Shoigu.
"Ukraine is not satisfied with the pace of the counteroffensive of Wagner PVK".
Russian army. 2021 - second in the world. 2022 - the second in Ukraine. 2023 - the second in Russia.
Let's get popcorn and watch. Actually, I am going to make varenyky (dumplings) with cottage cheese and watch the news today. With one of the summer drinks I like - "Potro-tonic" 😉🍹
New "family member"
Truth to be said, this small stuff is what has brought great relief to me.
Yeap, I installed security equipment yesterday in my flat, so my place is under protection. It was not literally me. A guy from the security company came here and did all the job, from the label on my door saying that this premise is under protection, to a mobile app on my phone where I can do and see all everything.
The equipment is made by "Ajax Systems" - this is a Ukrainian company that started its business in 2011 and not they sale in 120+ countries. They are really popular here. By the way, they delivered a solution that protects Bansky's graffiti in Ukraine.
Now I don't afraid to leave the house, and not only on urgent business.
Saturday-Caturday
A red grouchy cat lives in my neighborhood. My windows are always open, and for the third day in a row I have listened to his complaints. His intonation leaves no doubt that he is complaining about something.
But the cat in the first and second shots is not like that. He was very friendly and sweet. But the most surprising was to meet him by the abandoned house. Judging by its color and the shape of the ears, it is not an ordinary outdoor cat. This is an expensive breed. And I met him relaxing at the entrance of this house:
Obviously, it is abandoned but ... looks not like the abandoned buildings I used to see. The door is opened but there were no signs of anyone having spent the night here or ... you know, using alcohol or drugs. It still looks very homely and clean. I didn't take pictures inside as in was too dark.
This is how it looks from the main road:
Gorgeous but abandoned beauty. I took these pictures in a small mountain town I visited about a month ago. There were many abandoned houses that were really beautiful on their times. I wish I could buy them and turn into a charming summer house... ❤️
Scrolling through memories
One of those days started with a beautiful view from the window of a room we rented with my daughter. Rain has stopped and the sun appeared. A perfect day for a walk.
A few funny fundings I made during the walk. A funny plaque on the fence of the mansions, warns that "In real life, the lace is much longer." It was about a dog tied up in the yard. By the way, I wonder if there is still such an "alarm" in your country?
In Ukrainian villages, guard dogs usually live in a closed aviary or in a dog house out in the yard, to which they are tied on a long cord or chain. The length of the cord is usually such that a guest can pass without the dog reaching him. So the point is that the dog barks loudly when the stranger approaches.
Another nice find is this small toy house on the electric pole. It is made with love, and has many cute details.
Let me take you to the shadow of trees
More than beaches in Spain and the narrow streets of Italy, I miss Ukrainian Carpathians. Unlike me, my friend from Odesa traveled all around the world. She's been to so many mountains and woods, and she says that there is no place like our Carpathians.❤️ I can only agree with her.
Let's stop here for a moment. What do you think you see in the picture? Benches, a table and ... a passage. It is called "perelaz" in Ukrainian, from the "climb over".
In Carpathian villages the usual fence is made of thin logs, large thick branches. Its purpose is to protect from domestic animals - goats, cows or horses, and mark boundaries. To let go through someone's land they make a passage - usually two boards on either side of a wooden fence. One end is on the ground, and the other rests on a horizontal log of the fence.
That's all folks!
The summer is on high. Don't miss your chance to walk in nature, breathe fresh air, sunbathe, swim or run, and don't forget to support your body with seasonal greenery, vegs and foods. The most generous and rich season has started!
Take care and have a good weekend!
