Chilling off the grid, trying to escape the bureaucrats and control freaks. Come with Cecilia Lujan and I for a little tour of an earthship! In the video, I discuss how the earthworks, its benefits and beauty.
My house I just sold was a earthship.. and interesting enough it wad about 100 miles north of Taos. I've seen that community near there many times
I would like to see more people consider alternative housing like earthships, tiny homes, or even just smaller houses closer to the scale of 50 years ago. If you build smaller at a given price per square foot, you save money. if you build smaller in a given budget, that means more money per square foot so you get a better quality home. Anything that gives independence from the grid and the government is money well spent, so planning that way from the start can pay dividends in the long term. Building codes get in the way of creative recycling and construction, so if you want to build anything innovative, you are probably headed somewhere already semi-laissez-faire, so that's also a plus.
