Hello everyone!! 👻👻👻
First of all, I would like to thank all the support that I've received in my past interview to @hawks21. I would never have imagined receiving almost 350 likes, and what's more important for me, helping a great content creator to increase his audience. In my second edition, I will talk with the person who, with barely a year of experience as a crypto investor, is involved in many interesting projects for the community apart from gaming itself. He is @jim-crypto and you can find him everywhere in the community as you will see in the interview. Hope you enjoy it.
Hello Jim! It's almost 5. am. in Barcelona on a cold working Wednesday, but as everyone knows one has to take time from anywhere to make his/her dreams come true while fulfilling obligations. And at the moment of celebrating the interview, #Splinterlands and #Hive are part of my hobby time. First things first and let's introduce yourself to the readers...
Ok I will answer as best I can before the family wakes up. It 6 am here ☕
I live in a small mountain town called Underburg, located in Southern Drakensburg, South Africa. Moved here recently from the larger city of Durban, but as I am a video producer I travel a lot for work. I'm 37 - hobbies include surfing, skating (longboard beach promenade vibes not half pipes 😂🏖️) and I still enjoy a good party out with friends or at a barbecue.
Who does not love a day with friends, barbecue, and beer! 🍻... When did you buy your first crypto and when did you enter to play splinterlands?
Jumped on the crypto train in February 2021 and got hooked straight away. I tell my friends and family that I went down the rabbit hole...I don't think I ever got out! I joined the Splinterlands game in March 2021 because I enjoyed gaming and it felt similar to Hearthstone which I had played in the past. I first joined the (then) brand new YGG (Yield Guild Games) Splinterlands Guild and helped them build up their Splinterlands base.
In my opinion, cryptocurrencies threaten the global financial status quo, eliminating intermediaries and allowing ordinary citizens like you and me to share projects. And #Hive takes this spirit into a blockchain-focused on community and gaming. Seriously ur the first crypto was in Feb 2021? You are a recent arriver to the crypto world and you have gone fast. You are a founder of Splinterlands guild and much more!... Why did you decide to do it, what are your objectives related to guilds, and what kind of players would be #THGaming interested in recruiting?
Haha yeah, the first time I invested in crypto was 1 year ago. I mostly got into crypto because my friends all were and they were able to support me when I invested those first few dollars. It's scary to send money to the Blockchain for the first time! That's why building communities and supporting noobs are so important.
I watched hours of youtube trading videos every day for months and noticed that they all used the same patterns...over and over. Support and resistance, highs and lows, EMAs, Wedges, head & shoulders, etc. I googled "trading signals" and began teaching myself to analyze graphs using the free Binance Trading Tools. While I was concentrating on moving cryptos on Binance, the $250 I had invested into a little game called #Splinterlands was about to go parabolic.
As I mentioned before I WAS a member of YGG, but I think I was a bit ambitious for them and was often warned for acting outside of my role. I learned a lot by being in one of the biggest p2E gaming Guilds and helping them to build up their Splinterlands player base, but eventually, I parted ways to start my own Gaming Guild "Threshold Guardian Gaming". I like to lead and starting my Guild was inevitable.
The mission of THGaming is to become a crypto asset-driven, community-based P2E gaming guild that supports and invests in its players. Decentralization is the key and, as no big investors are pulling the strings behind the scenes, we have nothing to lose in developing our economy. The $THGaming Tribe token was minted using 100% post rewards. If that isn't community built I don't know what is! 😂
How many members does THG have today, and the main games?
Our Discord has around 165 members. A new stream of Hivechain users have joined since our hive Token minting...and I'm seeing tons of new content posts on our #hive-post-to-earn channel. Our main game is Splinterlands, we have 3 guilds within the game and some very experienced players. Gods-Unchained, Rising Star (hive) & Samurai Rising are pretty big games for us too.
So, in your project, you plan to recruit players that want to play and invest strongly in splinterlands and are also motivated in content creation?
Well Splinterlands is our main game but we want to recruit players from all blockchains and investment levels. We have begun manually curating #THGaming tagged posts and will continue to do this until our Staking, Delegating and Bot upgrades have been completed.
I do think it's important for new communities to keep forming on the Hivechain as the use case of other blockchains will catch up with the Hive. $Hive is known as the 'Gaming Blockchain' and it is important to attract the 100s of millions of gamers (who currently operate outside of the metaverse) into the Hive gaming ecosystem and 'blockchain'.
Yeah completely agree. In my opinion, what has been decisive to believe in the project is the Blockchain that supports the game. I believe that Splinterlands is made for Hive and vice versa. How much CP have you accumulated in almost this year of gaming? Which are your current ranked objectives and mid-game ranking objectives?
In the first few months of Splinterlands I didn't know what I was doing. It was a very part-time hobby, I didn't even know how to rent cars on the market. But I was buying Untamed packs. After joining YGG I started learning strat from the better players and then eventually making tutorial videos for YouTube. We were spinning Untamed packs and new combinations were forming. Nowadays there are so many great Splinterlands YT strategy channels that I don't bother with tutorial vids much. That's one of my those days.
The current main CP is 100k with about 10 delegated to a scholar base (@doomz) and a few #THGaming players. I have scholars playing both my bases but I play my main quite a lot so that I can keep up with the latest cards and combinations, as well as playing Gold Brawls in our Main Splinterlands Guild.
My card value went from $250 to $3000 almost overnight when SPS came into the game. That's when I quit spending time on non-crypto games and started taking Splinterlands seriously. I was still in YGG then, feels like a lifetime ago 🤯
What were ur gamer origins B4? I mean I wish I had spent my 200 $ clash royale in 2018 to Splinterlands, and how's your initial inversion evolved?
I have only put $400 fiat into the game. My main base peaked at $7000+ Market Value during the last bull run. I should have taken profit but we all thought Splinterlands was going to the moon 🚀
The last big open worlder I played properly was the Dinosaur game 'Ark Surivaval Evolved'. I played PUBG and CS: GO before that. I still have Ark installed on my computer and I let the kids play it when they want to, in God mode of course.
Which are your best summoners in CL? And which are ur best summoners in modern? And by cards? Ur best common, rare, epic, and legendary?
Which are in your opinion cards that can rule the meta, and maybe some hidden treasures?
Right now though, magic is very strong and a Summoner like Obsidian (Earth) manages to slice through many strong combinations. Even my Gold Rotwell (magic reflect) doesn't stand a chance most of the time.
Earth also has summoners: Llama (the last stand is so OP) and Mylor (thorns). So building up or renting a Powerful earth Deck is not difficult! Llama is around 35DEC a day right now 🚀
Ok, to advance in the interview, let's talk a bit more about the THGaming project...
I am the founder of the THGaming Guild and also created the official THGaming community on $Hive. I've run many competitions and sponsored giveaways worth hundreds of dollars in NFTs and Crypto. I currently have 3 accounts on Hive that I use for blogging and Re-Sharing great content, especially those posts by dedicated THGamers.
And can you tell me about that great February news?
The $THGaming Hive Tribe Token (minted 1st Feb) is currently taking up most of my time. You can read about it here However the Guild is growing and the Discord needs managing so you will often find me there.
So in less than a year you have had time to participate and learn from one of the best guilds in this game, you have foun your own and have laid the foundations of a community that supports content-creator/gamers, through a curation token and a Hive tribe. Just amazing!!! How can readers keep in touch with this community?
