BANG! Defense - Dev Log #1

in #oneup3 years ago

Hello Everyone!

BANG! Denfense is an upcoming P2E game on the Hive Engine, being developed in partnership with HashKings!

I've been hard at work on the game BANG! Defense the past couple weeks, and wanted to share the progress on PeakD.

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who joined our official Discord. We reached over 200+ members in just a couple weeks, which is amazing!

I've also started working on an official GitBook for the game. It's still a work-in-progress, so I recommend checking back regularly. I will be updating the Gitbook in unison with developing the game.

Also, thank you so much to the @hashkings team once again. Everyone's been such a big help, and this couldn't be done without them. Stay tuned to hear about the HashKings x BANG! Defense Avatar NFT that's currently in the works for the upcoming beta sale.

New Gameplay Footage

If you saw footage of the game in previous posts, the game has changed a lot since then. We got new enemies, guns, and a working wave system! I'll cover all of this below.

New Enemies

Compared to the old dev build, I switched out the Shaggi avatars with more suitable pixel enemies.

Bird: Relatively fast, but has low health.
Armored Dude: Normal speed, and medium health.
Bouncing Ball: Slightly faster than the armored dude, but the same health.
Alligator: Slowest enemy, but has a lot of health. Also does the most damage.

Added Match Economy

  • Enemies will now drop money when they die.
  • This money can be used to purchase upgrades as the waves progress.

Wave Progression

Another thing I'm working on is an enemy spawn algorithm. More and stronger enemies will spawn as the waves progress.

Additionally, each wave has a time limit that scales with the # of enemies that spawn. This means that the faster you clear a wave, the more time you have to decide on upgrades.

New Beta Blasters

Since the last posts, I realized the old Beta Blasters with the checkered pattern where wayyyy too big. I've decided to limit all weapons sprites to a 32x32 resolution. The new Beta Blasters are the perfect size, and I now have some room to design bigger weapons in the future.

Final Notes

While the game is still far from ready, it's slowly approaching a playable state for some offchain testing in the coming weeks.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend joining our Official Discord:

I try my best to post dev updates daily, and there plenty of great people to talk to! Additionally, Discord will be first to hear any new announcements.

Till next time,
Choof

Good job, little by little the game is advancing. That 360º turn of the gun has its grace.
