I've been playing a little Splinterlands recently, and I finally managed to hit on a battle where the Amplify ability came in handy, and I actually won specifically because of it.
The battle in question is this one, featuring one of my my favourite summoners from the Life Splinter, Raith.
Amplify
This ability gives plus one to thorns, return fire and reflect, and man is it great when it works, as below!
I love my passive victories!
The ruleset and lineup
- Thorns and reach
- 47 mana
- Legionnaire Alva - a solid tank
- Immutable (or whatever it's called!) Perfect with reach gifted, triage and a decent second tank
- Chaos Magi - Great high magic damage card
- Adelaide - for repair and resurrect. Good with Void shields.
- Venari Crystalsmith - tank heal.
- Blight - never a reason NOT to include this awesome card!
The battle
- Round 1 - my opponent takes out Adelaide, annoying because he resurrects, but he takes 3 damage to one card and loses another, thanks to those amplified thorns. I lose my venari to poison. Not a great start, but watch this space!
- Round 2 - Tusk goes down, then another, again thanks to those amplified thorns. 3 damage per round is killing him! AND THEN IT'S ALL OVER, two attacks on the magi, and the next two cards down.
So I won with hardly even landing an attack!
Analysis
Amplify worked a treat here because of my opponent's using FIVE melee cards, and all of my units having both thorns with amplify, meaning my opponent's monsters were taking an additional point of damage each every time they landed an attack.
And when one has shields with repair, this is a powerful combination.
Of course it was very silly of my opponent to play so many melee cards with a thorns ruleset!
Summoner - Raithe - for amplify, shield and void shield
