Diplomatic or Straight Forward - What defines you?

in #personality3 years ago

A lot of my friends have told me that I am too straightforward, I should think, mold, and then speak. In a way, I should be diplomatic. I don't agree and no matter how hard I try, I cannot do it. How about you? Are you a straightforward person who speaks their heart or do you deliberately and then use words to the best of your benefit?

So let's talk more about why people say one should be diplomatic by talking about the pros and cons of both traits.

Pros of being a straightforward person

  1. People trust you easily because you are always honest.
  2. You speak your heart out which clearly puts on the table your pain areas.

Cons of being a straightforward person

  1. People might take advantage of your honesty. You might tell them what you think and feel and they might use those things against you or to benefit themselves.
  2. Lot of people would find you rude and selfish rather than understanding who your are.

Pros of being a diplomatic person

  1. You put your difficult points in a very subtle way that people are not offended.
  2. Some people may like you more because they can't see the real you.

Cons of being a diplomatic person

  1. You tend to think more before you speak.
  2. Your real feelings, thoughts, and emotions are always inside you.

Even when I understand the pros and cons of being a diplomatic or straightforward person, I can't choose to be one or the other. I am who I am and I might mold myself once or twice and that can't be done on a regular basis, especially if I am expected to react spontaneously.

I am a straightforward person. Lot of people consider me rude and impolite but those who truly understand me and my intents appreciate me for who I am.
