Wow, what a topic to run with, right?
Now that I have your attention.. let's get into the meat of this.
Hive is by no measure failing, and I expect to see highs in the range of $5 this bull market. We are a solid token, with a solid foundation of people, and some really good technology going forward.
I mean I've had in depth discussions with @theycallmedan and @blocktrades over the last few years and the direction we are going is phenomenal. The tech behind what we are doing is exciting, to say this least.
However,
However,
Are we an influencer chain or a gaming chain?
Well it truly depends who you ask on that -- I really do think the word is split on this one. If you ask half of hive they would say one thing, and the other half would cut inflation completely and roll with what we already have.
If you ask me both are right -- I'd like to see us excel in both directions; to me that's the beauty of decentralization, we all have our select little nubs and clubs.
But let's look at what we're not doing right for a moment.
Hive is mostly advertised as an influencer chain. I came here for the writing, I'm sure most of you reading this did too in some form and got swept away by the rest of the fun.
Let's look at the influencing a little closer -- hive rewards attention; that's really quite amazing in the grand scheme of things, no other chain does it like that. The world is only just catching up to us where we've been the leaders for easily 8 years.
But does hive really reward attention? I mean, ask yourself that question seriously, are you really being rewarded for the people that read whatever you wrote or watch whatever you made?
Well..
no.
I say look at it this way, what do you use YouTube for?
And then ask yourself what do you use Hive for?
Ideally the answer should be the same, but it's fundamentally not, and you know in your heart it's not.
For hive to be successful in a sphere of influence then we need to switch the focus from wealth creation, to value creation.
Of course then we get into the whole argument about what constitutes as value?
I mean these are the age old arguments we used to have on Steem which were never solved, and I don't see us solving them anytime soon here either.
Take any web2 social media platform for example.
Any you use.
It wont take you two minutes until you find something that interests you, or something you actively want to engage in -- and that's because the platforms are highly lopsided to the creation of value.
Now do hive.
How long before you see a post that you would like to spend more than two minutes on?
I mean of course don't get me wrong, there is value on hive if you look for it, and there are some really good posts out there -- but then they don't pop out at us.
The average internet user looks at hive and doesn't see anything worth of note in 15 seconds and then they are off. Anyone that's done an ounce of marketing understands this. Attention is something that is seriously worked hard for; you aren't going to garner anyone's with yet another acti-fit post.
That sounds harsh, I know, because it's not all bad, but there is a lot to be said about the creation of value in an attention economy, which I do see crypto moving that way in the next few years.
But what our next moves should be as builders is transition hive into a user friendly platform that's seamless, easy to use, and not much different from web2.
Of course that single statement alone brings along with it some serious questions -- like who is going to pay for it all? Devs cost a lot of money. Then, how will we market this stuff? Getting in front of people is hard, and gaining their attention and trust is even harder.
Pricing that up in my head is at least $100,000, easily, for only a few months. It's a lot of money.
But it would be money well spent.
And I'm not your man to take you this way because I've got my own ideas and promises I've made for my own projects and community..
However I could throw ideas out there into the ether for others to take hold of.
Getting started with EVM should be our first and foremost priority. Because right now we exist as a silo; where backwaters internet meets hipster and grifter. Thanks fully to the @vsc.network who are actively taking steps to remedy that problem.
After that we should be looking at building on top of hive web apps like WordPress that improve the user experience so that any dumb noob can use it and start writing.
This in my opinion would kickstart a wave of value creation.
Right now we're too fixated on price and bullion stacks -- and hardly anything at all on what we create and how we conduct ourselves here.
Fix these issues, and we'll onboard a shit ton of new users.
