So we've had two competing brands for the last three to four years. One, the man cave, where men come have fun and shoot the shit with each other. And two, the BRO token which is central to all that we do in our community.
One thing that I've always found myself at a crossroads with is the work that I want to do with men, balanced with the need for a good financial plan for the future. To create incentives and strategies going forward. Both topics could not be further apart from each other.
One thing that hive has been great with is that you can be a social project which incentivises and rewards activities related to our niche, which has been quite an awesome journey over the last five years of our existence. But one thing that disincentivizes me quite a bit is where women join and immediately think the Man Cave isn't for them because of the name.
Now I'm not going all woke here but I know what it feels like when I join Ladies of Hive -- I feel crazily out of place; not because it's a different project but because it's a space for women, and they've held true to that rule. You can just taste the oestrogen in that place, haha.
But we're a little different. I've always allowed women into our place and I've treated them no differently than I have the men. At our peak I had more women working for me than I did men. Whilst the name has always been the Man Cave, I've never really held true to that premise. I've always allowed women in and treated them just like any other person.
Not much would have changed if it weren't for a lady that joined from the Cine TV community and wondered if she was in the right place. It really made me think to the core of what our aims were. Do I really want to ostracise an entire gender out of our market? Probably not.
Our biggest LGN holder is female after all.
So I took it upon myself to rebrand us as The BRO Community. Nothing has changed of course, our chat channels are still as fierce as ever, and people would probably liken our general chat rooms to a bomb site -- such is the case when you champion free speech. We've rebranded to fit the way we act as a community rather than the vision I had five years ago. We've changed a little since then.
But all in all people will do the same as they have always done with us. Come in and participate because it's fun, or run away screaming. Both men and women.
It's always been a place for all that want to. I'd like the branding to more reflect that now.
In other news
Since I'm keeping an eye on CineTV now I'll be visiting the promotion channels when our voters have some spare VP and voting up some shared posts. I'll more than likely only vote people that participate though. If you come and silently drop your links then you'll get no love from us.
That's it for now though peeps.
Be well!
