Returning home today

We are being picked up at 1pm local time to head for the airport and then home. I doubt I’ll write much more now till
we are back home in the UK.

We were somewhat exhausted as we landed here two weeks ago with so much going on this year, in personal lives and work. We chose to do some stuff whilst here but to mainly enjoy this vast resort and all of its delightful treats. It’s been a blast.

I want to thank Paul and Emma for inviting us to join them on this trip that coincided with their anniversary.

I do have some photos and videos to share when back home. I had trouble with 3 Speak whilst here, so used YouTube instead for some that I’ve shared. I shall break it all down into a handful of posts.

Tulum was incredible and I’m now hooked on the Mayans. Our guide Miguel is a very memorable guy for his knowledge on his specialty topic. We wish that we had more time there though. Though I understand they are doing all they can to protect it from the harms of footfall.

Xcaret was incredible and deserves a post all of it’s own. The Mayan you see above was one of the many we got to see there. I have a video of their dance where you get to see the elaborate costumes they wear.

Trouble is i shot it all in 4k and my ipad started to fill up. So a lot of the memory cards need to be offloaded onto my Mac back home.

We didn’t make it to Chichen Itza sadly because it was a three hour drive and well over £100 each to get there, plus bearing in mind; you only get a limited amount of time once there.

We have decided to come back and potentially stay in two different hotels or just stay somewhere near Merida for a city break and to get into Chichen Itza at a slightly cheaper cost.

This trip was not cheap, it cost Tina and myself well over £4000 and for the four of us close to £9000. Our hotel is all-inclusive though and the food etc has been really good. The only thing is and I guess after 14 nights, stuff gets a bit repetitive because you opt for “favourites” at the buffet or in the a la carte restaurants, esoecially if you are a little bit fussy with food.

We ate at all of the restaurants here at Sandos Playacar - Italian, Brazilian, Steak House, French, Burrito bar, Cup cake cafe and the only one we missed was the Mexican one weirdly!!

There is also a hig bugfet restaurant which has been excellent throughout, though pick your times.

Would love to come back!

Our flight is ten hours, arriving home tomorrow morning to the cold and grey lol!!

PS Still have time for more photos, as i wrote thid ahead if time

14 days in paradise! I'm glad you enjoyed the beauties of Mexico, I've been there about 4 times (some for work) and every time I go, I feel like I've never left; certainly, the tourist part of Mexico is a bit expensive, so you have to take advantage of all it has to offer. I look forward to meeting you on the next trip and getting to know our families!

Happy homecoming!

We are considering 2026 as a return trip, so let’s stay in touch through Hive!

Perfect! Happy homecoming!

Hope it's a good journey. You can miss out on the all the US excitement. Looks like a cool place to visit. I like to see the local culture, wildlife and history as I'm not one for lying on a beach.

Nice hair! :)
