The movie Armageddon stands out as an epic 1990s Summer blockbuster. The star studded cast including Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler and Ben Afleck. The song Don't Wanna Miss a Thing was the title song from this flick by Aerosmith, and it carries alot of memories of this time period before 9/11.

The song Don't Wanna Miss a Thing was released in 1998 while I was in highschool. It was a time of optimism before 9/11, and the world looked very energetic and positive at the time. The movie Armageddon was a reflection of the get er done culture and the belief that technology and grit could save humanity.

Aerosmith is one of my favorite bands. The 1990s was a great time for pop metal and rock, and Aerosmith is talented. The song is a rock love song that resonates with me just as strongly today as in the late 90s. It makes sense with the theme of the movie, as the team of roughnecks left Earth to stop a rogue asteroid from hitting us. Nothing was certain in the film, and the song emphasizes the love one has when life's uncertainty becomes unveiled.

In today's world of uncertainty, this song rings true. Aerosmith cannot be replicated- their class and technical skills on vocals and guitar are unique. I hear this song on the radio from time to time, and I pause for a second when the feelings of this time period flood back. I have to catch myself on some of the lyrics and I just enjoy it. Hopefully the next generation hears this song and forms their own associations with it. If you haven't heard it, please listen now.
