Online?

Losing a Parent grief.webp

Kelly had given up on love. After a string of failed relationships and unfulfilling dates, she had resigned herself to a life of solo Netflix nights and lonely Sundays.

But then, one fateful evening, she stumbled upon an online dating platform. On a whim, she created a profile, answering the requisite questions and uploading a few photos.

David, on the other hand, had been online dating for months. A software engineer by day and a hopeless romantic by night, he had tried every platform under the sun, but to no avail.

That was until he saw Kelly's profile. Her bright smile and sparkling eyes caught his attention, and he found himself scrolling through her photos and reading her bio over and over again.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, David worked up the courage to send Kelly a message. "Hi," he typed, his fingers trembling over the keyboard. "I saw your profile and couldn't help but notice how beautiful you are. Would love to get to know you better."

Kelly, who had been browsing through her messages, was taken aback by David's forwardness. But as she read through his message again, she couldn't help but feel a spark of excitement.

"Hi," she replied, trying to sound casual despite the butterflies in her stomach. "Thanks for the compliment. I'd love to get to know you better too."

And with that, Kelly and David embarked on a whirlwind online romance. They spent hours chatting, sharing stories, and laughter. They talked about everything from their favorite books and movies to their childhood memories and dreams for the future.

As the days turned into weeks, Kelly found herself falling deeply in love with David. She loved his kind heart, his sense of humor, and his infectious enthusiasm. She loved the way he made her feel like she was the only person in the world.

David, too, had fallen head over heels for Kelly. He loved her intelligence, her creativity, and her beautiful spirit. He loved the way she made him laugh, the way she challenged him to be his best self.

Despite the distance between them – Kelly lived in New York, while David was in California – they felt an inexplicable connection. They talked about meeting in person, but for now, they were content with their online relationship.

As the months passed, Kelly and David's love continued to grow. They celebrated each other's birthdays, holidays, and milestones, even though they were apart.

One day, David decided to take their relationship to the next level. He booked a flight to New York, determined to meet Kelly in person.

But just as he was about to board the plane, he received a message from Kelly. "David, I'm so sorry," she wrote, "but I'm not ready to meet in person yet. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm scared."

David's heart sank, but he understood Kelly's fears. He had been patient for so long, and he was willing to wait a little longer.

"It's okay, Kelly," he replied. "I understand. We'll meet when you're ready. I promise."

And with that, David and Kelly continued their online romance, their love growing stronger with each passing day. They knew that someday, they would meet in person, and their love would blossom into something even more beautiful.

But for now, they were content with their online relationship, their hearts connected across the miles.

I have had friends try to convince me to try online dating apps, but I am very resistant. I have heard of people meeting online and it working out for them. Me, hmmm still unsure. xx
