Nutrition Response Testing...? Yeah, I know it sounds fancy, and in a way it is. Insurance companies in the US typically don't pay for alternative or preventative medicine. It's just not something that's in their cards for some reason. While these businesses (health insurance companies) have a way of doing things that don't make sense to me, they make the revenue they need to make, and then some!
Why should they care? With my logic, if you keep people healthy, they'd have a smaller health-care footprint, meaning that most dorctor visits would potentially be for less serious problems... but who am I to dictate how things ought to be!?!
Wellness Care is like an investment in the self
Taking care of yourself in a preemptive way works for your future self, much better than any health care system proposed by this government, that's for sure!
My wife had been going through some digestive problems when she eventually was recommended, by a good friend, to see the nutrition specialist she had been seeing for years. (By the way, that is not my wife's belly up there, though that beer does look refreshing!!!)
Eventually she made time to go see this specialist. When she came home to tell me the price of the nutrition program she was about to go through, I gasped.
Now, I just heard that in sales, if you don't make your customers gasp a little, whatever you're selling isn't priced high enough.
But damn... I guess it's the price we may need to pay for long term good health! In other words, it's the price of wellness! She may have gone to see the good doctor with a problem to fix, but if we had put ourselves in the habbit of seeing a wellness practitioner preemptively, she perhaps would have never had digestive problems.
I can already hear a lot of people telling me these are all things you can do on your own, at home, without having to pay some nutrition specialist.
With only a few weeks of seeing Dr. Éric, my wife felt a million times better. Sure he had put her on a strict diet, cut out a lot of food, and sold her loads of supplements, but hell... it was working!!!
I say it was, but it in reality it's still working very well! So well that I eventually started to see him too. I didn't have any major problems to complain about, I mostly went for his chiropractic side of his practice. I have some back problems that bother me once in a while, and a sciatica that can flare up pretty badly sometimes.
I didn't expect to go on a wellness journey after seeing him that first time, but here I am, almost three months later...
Yes you guessed it, I was also roped into going through his nutrition program, like my wife, and I feel like a super human!!!
I have the same kind of energy I had as a teenager, never tired and we'll awake, all day long! Even after a day's work and putting the kid to bed, I can easily stay up a while longer, no problem.
I have essentially cut out all grains, and legumes in my life. I have basically been eating clean meat (pasture raised/grass fed and finished) and vegetables. I still have some carbs like potatoes, yams, and other root vegetables, but no more pasta, pizza, no bagels, no rice (it's a grain), no corn... no grain at all, unless it's sprouted.
I feel so great, I want to tell the whole world about it!!!
Years ago I embarked on a re-wilding journey to try to figure out what Humans were supposed to eat. Believe what you will about the different diets that have worked really well (or not) for you, the fact remains... we don't actually know what the wild human ate for almost 300,000 years. We changed the way we ate once we first discovered the ability to cultivate plants, but it drastically changed with the invent of industrial agriculture, and yet again when we came up with theories like the dorito effect to take enormous profits out of people's continuous hunger due to the lack of nutrients. You should look that up, it's was pretty interesting marketing strategy that still works today!
Sell foods that lacks nutrients so that people eat more of it!!! It's a brilliant idea, not good for the person eating such food, but damn, for the making more money, it was a great idea.
So anyway, on my re-wilding journey I came upon a doctor named Dr Weston A. Price who traveled the world to study isolated human groups. What he found was that a nutrient rich diet was the reason behind their good overall health!!!
I looked into it a while and wanted to eat better. When I told my wife that I wanted to move beyond eating organic, she was slightly offended because we already ate really well in comparison to others.
Now that we're both going through a nutrition program that suggests we eat a better than organic diet, we're finally on the same page, and we can explore our health even further!!!
Clean animal products, clean veggies, and none of the food groups that didn't exist some 12,000 years ago, such as grains unless they're sprouted. This diet is expensive though, but there are ways to get around that a bit, and that might be for another post... it has to do with building a resilient community around us.
How do you keep yourself healthy?
