This coin is very unique in the fact that it was issued three years earlier than the issue date on the coin. Apparently the reason Samoa issued this coin so early is that there is an expectation that the price of Gold will go up very high in the upcoming years.

1. Coin Story
I enjoy collecting lunar coins and one of my all time favourite designs is the lunar dragon. The dragon is the fifth animal in the twelve year lunar cycle.

The dragon is highly renowned in Chinese Culture, it represents power, honour, success and luck which are all great qualities. Dragon design coins are among the coins that I like to sell the least, basically because I am very fond of them. I have sold some dragons coins occasionally, as they always do attract a decent premium, but each time I have completed a sale there is a part of me that regrets it. 😀
2. Coin Packaging
These coins are packaged in a gold case with red velvet inlay. The coin rests in the centre of the case.
The gold case is housed in an ornate red cardboard box with gold text and details. The Scottsdale lion head logo is positioned in the centre of the box.
