In our current world of ever increasing inflation and uncertain financial markets, it is a great time to seek out the safe haven of hard assets like gold. Gold is my preferred precious metal, both as an investment and for its lustrous beauty. There are various forms of gold investment such as gold bullion, gold coins and even gold jewelry. For me gold bullion and coins are a timeless investment, that I love to stack and collect.
Three of the investment benefits of gold include:
1. Intrinsic Value - Throughout history gold has been extremely resilient to depreciation. Unlike the fiat currencies of the world that tend to lose their value and worth over time due to irresponsible fiscal decisions by governments, gold has always maintained its value over time.
2. Tangible and Portable - Owning gold for me means owning physical gold in the form of bullion and coins. Throughout history the portability of gold has been one of its most valuable assets. If ever there was severe economic turmoil, the the ability to easily transport gold across geographical boundaries would be essential.
3. Liquidity - Gold bullion is extremely liquid. I have never had an issue selling gold bullion or coins when the need has arisen in the past. Reputable bullion dealers will always give you a fair price at or near spot price, but there is also a very vibrant secondary market of buyers always looking to increase their investment holding of physical gold. Word of warning though, be very cautious buying and selling on the secondary market, ensure you only buy from individuals that you trust and that have a known trading history.
Conclusion
Gold bullion is timeless investment that has captivated me as an individual and brings me lots of joy. I started off investing in gold with my head, but as the years have gone by, investing in gold has become something a love to do, not just for the wealth preservation advantages, but also as a pleasurable pastime. I often need to remind myself that my gold is an investment and not just something that I do for fun.
