On this very first day of the New 2024, and as a small Christmas gift, we wanted to give you a tiny kick-start for the beginning of this New Year in the form of POB tokens that we sent to all VOCUP token holders earlier today.
800 POB tokens were distributed among VOCUP token holders concerning their respective token holdings, according to the snapshot of token holders taken on December 31st, 2023, at midnight (UTC), in the amounts shown in the table below.

Why POB token?
In case you didn't know, and as far as we understood, the POB (Proof Of Brain) token was created as a second layer token that would mimic Bitcoin performance on the Hive blockchain.
The token was issued in February 2021 (almost three years ago), and its maximum supply is only 21M tokens. By the time we are writing this, something less than 7,4M (7,386,955.54623868) tokens have been mined. It means there are still more than 13.6M tokens to be mined.
How to mine POB tokens?
In contrast to Bitcoin, you don't need some expensive equipment that will consume lots of (expensive) power or be skilled and knowledgeable enough to set up your Bitcoin miner to work.
All you need (as for every other second layer Hive token) is the following.
- To publish your (Hive) posts through the Proof Of Brain interface or just by using #proofofbrain or #pob tags.
- To stake POB token and curate (upvote) others' published posts and comments that are published under one of the above-mentioned tags.
Where is the catch?
At the moment, 50 POB tokens are mined approximately every 10 minutes. It's about 300 POB tokens per hour or 7,200 POB tokens per day to grab.
The catch is that those mining rewards are set to decrease by 50% every 4 years. In other words, sometime in February 2025, those mining rewards would fall to 150 POB tokens per hour or 3,600 POB tokens per day.
Currently, the token sells for 0.01259 HIVE (lowest ASK price) or buys for 0.01030201 HIVE (highest BID price) per 1 POB, which we find pretty cheap.
However, if the POB token would mimic Bitcoin's performance history as planned (and we all know what happens when Bitcoin halves - the price goes up), the same price increase might also happen to the POB token.
Therefore, we believe the following 14 months are crucial, as after that, we won't have a chance to mine as many POB tokens as we do now, and which tokens then may easily cost twice as much as they cost today.
Of course, this is not financial advice but just our belief, so you are free to do whatever you want with the POB rewards you received from us and your POB tokens in general.
