3 weeks since the last Zekely so here are my favourite 10 shots from the adventure. I usually have enough neat stuff to share weekly but so much going on with family, friends and business that I only get to it occasionally.
This week, I am ushering in the autumn and finding myself enjoying plenty of local art!
On the Last Episode...
When I last checked in for the Zekely, Fall was in mild yet full effect and Birdhouse Tree was rockin' a full red head of hair. Cool nights and nice bluesky days.
These days, not so much hair. Regularly below freezing at night time the last couple weeks with some cool days as well and the biggest tree in the dog park threw down all its leaves for the winter.
Farm Adventure
I know I use the term 'adventure' a little loosely. What the hell choice does a boring white guy have for a lifestyle blog? One neat jaunt I had was with local premium Canadian hay dealer www.newedenhay.com to one of his suppliers for a truckload of hay that was destined for the southern United States. I have heard it said that more food is grown in this region than any other in Canada and the growing conditions are great for high protein hay. 3 harvests and programmable protein content make it quite the commodity for large American farm operations or feed stores. Look at this big city marketing dood out on a Mennonite farm helping load a truck!
#Beer is not quite farm adventure unless you consider all the grains we grind for the mash and the hops that are farmed in different regions. That and the fact that our head brewer runs the hay company and this is a picture of 210 liters of different beers currently fermenting in his den. Probably a couple #beersaturday posts on these but the styles are:
- 2 kinds of American Amber
- New England IPA
- Black Marzen
- Chocolate Cherry Stout
Big party coming up where all of these and a couple more will simultaneously be on tap. It is good to be a #beerologist!
The Arts!
As I look back on the most interesting photos from the last couple weeks, I see that there is plenty of performance art! I do love when I am surrounded by live art exhibition. Here, we are back stage at one of the oldest theatres in a theatre town on a Ghost Walk. You can catch more details here https://hive.blog/wednesdaywalk/@zekepickleman/wednesdaywalk-ghost-walking-through-the-avon
Here, we were hanging with the Mayor, downtown business association and other business owners & community art enthusiasts for the unveiling of a local art exhibit. There are SO many grants available from the provincial government for artists, businesses, and the artists who run their operation like businesses. to improve lifestyle and commerce in the small towns. In this instance, we celebrate Just under 25,000 hearts that made up the nice public art piece in the background of this photo. #community and #art are a great combination.
On the musical side of art, I was informed that my better half had purchased us tickets to a Dueling Pianos show at a newer event venue. Of course I am gonna say yes because I love live music and getting WifePoints© as well is a bonus! I realize now that I shot this picture more of a wide angle of the venue than a spotlight on the musicians presently taking requests somewhere in the blue lights if you zoom. A couple entertaining musicians playing random requested songs and covering piano, bass, solos and percussion with a fun-loving crowd sure makes for a good time.
More on the music side of things, I had the chance to hang with legendary local musicians this week as we plan the launch of their latest record. I will have to share some of the tracks here on the blockchain as blockchain exposure, traffic and content really helps independent musicians and bands. Plus, a record release promotion campaign with a record release concert is great content. I will give you the inside track of the Thundering Velvet Band in the coming months.
Food
Just this evening, I was invited to the staff event at Revival House where we were shown the new Winter Menu by the chefs. Dogs were even invited to sample and discover the seasonal menu that will be offered more to locals and regional travelers as tourist season hibernates for a few months. @town-crier is the Hive home for our company and I will have to create time to bring blockchain to business as we crawl toward majority adoption. Good eats on the way!
Until Next Time...
The sun has gone down on another fun few weeks and here is my wannabe @daveks sunset shot! Before too long, I will be into winter adventure and a long few months of snow. 'Til then, I am enjoying the mild autumn and setting up for a crazy few months of fun, business and blockchain.
