I just realized it has been another month since the last Zekely Weekly and I should probably catch up. the weekly feature was popular enough in years past so a monthly reduction sauce must be at least 4 times as delicious!
This is your transition from summer to autumn from someone who reuses to let go of summer fun! Now with added Follow Me calls to action!
Cottage Time
Prime cottage time is during the summer time up north here. So, I love to take advantage of off-prime cottage time when September hits. If you are not a follower by now, I believe that if you check https://hive.blog/waiv/@zekepickleman/a-canadian-cottage-getaway and see how I have boiled that down to a paragraph adventure summary, the price of the follow subscription might be more than worth it. Ignoring all of the scenery, beer drinkin' and pure Canadiana, an aluminum canoe and the Jason mask we floated under the water for kayakers and swimmers to discover was a highlight.
Music
It was a pretty musical summer with the chance to get on stage with the band and the early fall is singing the same tune. Live music is either finding some legs in this small town or I find myself in the circles making it happen. There are a few musical adventures coming up I can share but here is the latest where I got to sit in the good seats at a fantastic venue.
Gardening
The Pickleman Family Garden wraps up rather quickly in September as the cooler nights and shorter days settle in. I am still swimming in tomatoes as the cucumbers have finished up and am now harvesting the last of the habaneros. Mulching up the veggie plants and preparing the soil for the winter sleep is not very blog worthy but I can tell you we fermented some of the tastiest hot sauce that will last us all winter.
Cruising
I have been noticing that people are taking advantage of the warm sunny fall weather in different ways. I don't suppose it is proper to call it Indian Summer anymore? One way is taking those fancy and project cars out on the road for a cruise. When rushing around completing tasks in a feasible manner is the norm, every time I see one of those nice rides on the road, it makes me happy to imagine they are unplugging for a little meaningful joy, hopefully going nowhere in particular. Snagged a ride in Tish's 'vette too.
Community
With promoting community businesses and events are such a large part of my business, the busy summer looks to be carrying its momentum straight through to winter. One of those is a series of events called City of Dreamers by the Provocation Idea Festival which kicked off with a grass dance by local performer and indigenous leader Chris Mejaki. While half of me is not pleased with all the old white people and their empty virtue signaling, the other half really enjoys the consistent tastes of a culture that was based in respect for the land. Performance and history lesson in one is time well spent.
A follow will get you front row seats to some of the stories I have not yet told and you can join me on those which are yet to come.
Look Around!
We sure have been treated by the sky with the latest round of northern lights. Solar flares crashing into our atmosphere sure make plenty of people happy so why not share some pics of the fireworks?
Regional Touring
I had the chance to escape for a couple days for our anniversary this month. One of the highlights was our visit to the Konzelmann Estate Winery in the Niagara region. Besides dragging you to every craft brewery in the region with me, I will also take you on tours like this one on @peakd https://peakd.com/hive-155530/@zekepickleman/wednesdaywalk-konzelmann-winery-tour Wednesday Walking at the Winery!
Walking
Despite all of the bonus late summer adventure, I still found plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors with my little dood. He runs incessantly so it is hard to get a good shot of him but this one captures the fun he has. If you like dogs or views of the outdoors no matter what the season I got plenty of that. The seasons changing are being captured on my smart phone and those who don't know snowy winter will get a big dose from me in coming months.
Of Course, BEER!
Followers that enjoy foamy beer content from the Blockchain Beerologist might revolt if there wasn't beer available. There is always beer available like this one I enjoyed before a round of golf last week. We call it swing oil as it certainly loosens you up for a round of late summer bonus golf.
Speaking of Beerology, you can catch the first half of my epic 6 breweries in a single day tour [here] https://ecency.com/beersaturday/@zekepickleman/beersaturday-6-brewery-tours-in-a-single-day We have some big beer adventures coming up including this same 6-brewery marathon with a couple dozen people so that should be a reason to tune in.
In Conclusion...
The sun has gone down on another fun month and here is my wannabe @daveks sunset shot! So much fun as summer turned to autumn and the next month appears to be lining up the same adventure. I probably won't get back to the actual weekly Zekely but who doesn't want 4x the adventure in a single blog post?
