How the days go by...

in #ruthphotostorieslast year

I can't believe it's been three weeks since the birth of Little Miss! Our girl is growing healthy and strong and the days seem to go by so fast and so slow at the same time I can hardly tell them apart. Staying in, I have lost track of time, I don't know what date it is, what day it is and all I know is I have to live Groundhog Day over and again since every new twenty-four-hour cycle is basically the repeat of the same things...

The baby will wake up at 8 or 9 in the morning for her usual breastfeeding session, then I'll be trying to put her back to sleep, or at least in her crib, so that I'll have some free time to cook or clean around the house. This without much success, as she won't be able to sleep and will look for me screaming! This will last about two or three hours when I will hold her in my arms, breastfeed her for five or ten minutes as she falls asleep, I will try to lay her down, she will be quiet for five minutes until she suddenly starts crying again and the cycle begins all over... At around 12, she'll probably take a nap for an hour or two. I'll have some time to do chores, then quick lunch and the crying-breastfeeding-sleep cycle begins again! Little Man's afternoon nap time will coincide with this cycle, so imagine the noise of two sleepy kids both wanting to be with you, while a desperate father tries to soothe one so that the desperate mother can take care of the other. At around 5 or six, Little Man will wake up, hopefully Little Miss will still be sleeping or beginning her third cycle. Little Man will have something to eat and go out with his dad. At around 8, I'll be trying to prepare dinner, then Little Miss will have her bath while the boys are eating so that they can go shower after her.

Bedtime is hard. Little Man will be tired and asking for me, Little Miss will also want her mommy too, so another scene of total chaos with screams and cries will take place. Hopefully, this will all calm down at around 11 when both kids are asleep. Little Miss will wake up two more times during the night (usually once around 3 to 4 am and once at around 6). Little Man will also wake up at around 6 to 7 and thank God, his dad will take care of him so that I can have another one or two hours of sleep.

It's been tiring, it's been hectic, but it's also been really really nice...
