Since 2018 the Scottsdale Mint has been producing coins for the EC8(Eastern Caribean 8) encompassing 8 Caribean Island groups in the ECCB (Eastern Caribean Central Bank) who governs currency for these Island Countries. Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and Montserrat.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an island country located in the southeast Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean. The country consists of the larger main island Saint Vincent and about two thirds of the northern part of the 32 islands in the Grenadines chain of islands.

Some of filming of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies was done in the islands which has help them out with the tourism industry and investors that has helped out the economy. The islands have an interesting history that you can check out more at their Wiki page.

The obverse side features a frosted center with a side view of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by a laurel wreath. The shiny outer rim is inscribed with EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK on the top, QUEEN ELIZABETH II on the bottom, .999 SILVER on the left and TWO DOLLARS on the right. This is the standard design for all of the EC8 series coins and was created by Ian Rank-Broadley.

The Reverse side features a humpback whale in the center appearing to be swimming with waves in the background. The far outer rim has an almost rope looking design around the coin. Inside the rim is the inscription St. Vincent & the Grenadines on the top and 2021 on the bottom.

One of these days, I will vacation in the Caribbean Islands. But every time I plan to go, it is somehow outweighed by Hawaii!
It is a great coin, @maddogmike !!!

I can't say anything, Bimini is only about 50 mi. off the coast from where I live and I have never been there. 😆 I would probably go to Hawaii before the Caribbean also, you pretty much have everything and more there from an island perspective.

Hello, @maddogmike, thank you for showing the beautiful coin of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The whale and waves are beautifully done on the front of the coin. Queen Elizabeth II is on the other side and she is as beautiful as usual.

That is so cool that St. Vincent and the Grenadines islands were used to film some of Pirates of the Caribbean Movies! I thought you might enjoy this video about the movie set.

Thank you for your coin today, Mike. I always enjoy your posts on your Caribbean coins.

Thanks Barb. Honestly I didn't really think about it but it totally makes sense that they would film these movies in the Caribbean. 😅

Don't know that I want a whale to humb back 😂

Hey man ain't nothing wrong with a little whale tail 🤣

What a beauty! Scottsdale does great work! Those islands are all great places to visit if you ever get the chance!

I don't have a desire to go to some of the more touristy
places but some of the islands that are not as known would
be amazing to visit.
