Another great series is the Republic of Congo silverback gorilla series and the 2023 doesn't disappoint.
The Scottsdale mint has been producing the silverback gorilla series for the Republic of Congo since 2015. The design alternates from an aggresive gorilla depiction to a passive depiction every other year.
The obverse side features the Republic of Congo coat of arms in the center with a frosted background. The coat of arms has a shield with a lion holding a torch in the center, elephants facing out on both sides and a crown on the top. The inscription on the crown says REPUBLIQUE DU COMNGO and the inscription on the banner across the bottom reads UNITE TRAVAIL PROGRES. Around the outside the inscription says REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO on the top and 500 FRANCS CFA on the bottom.
The Reverse side features two gorillas, an adult holding it's baby both facing forward. There is a decorative half moon design around the top outer rim. The inscription on the left says .999 SILVER and on the right ONE TROY OUNCE 2023.
