The top player
Messi popped up on a city street sometime last month.
It is said that he is too old to play and will retire now. I will miss Messi if he does. I don't know enough about futbol (Soccer) to know if there is a rule about age or forced retirement.
But I do know that he will live on and his face will get air time from here on out on the rolling shutter of this store front or if he attends a game in the stands. Maradona had the cameras hone in on him whenever he was at a game. I am sure Leo will get the same treatment.
It is odd to walk down the street and see this huge elbow that seems to have a little head attacked to it. Then you get there and it is hard to make out the man with the proportions that hit you. I had to back up to the other side of the street in order to get it near right (but his ear still looks huge).
These two give you an idea of what the artist was up against. The picture is painted well, for sure. It is just one of those pieces that must be seen from afar.
This and the last post I made cover the two that will be retiring. I am wondering if the other team players will be portrayed somewhere in the city. It is anyone's guess.
I am not out every day, but if I were, I could certainly find one or two 'bolonquis' happening if I did a quick circuit around the city, more if I went out to the surrounding areas. I actually have not found many lately - People may just be partied out from the World Cup win.
Bolonqui is slang for desorden or lio in Spanish - Big Mess in English.
Even the word is messed up - original is quilombo
