A Beginner’s Guide for spending Glint - Community Engagement Challenge

in #splinterlandslast month

Good afternoon everyone!

Glint is a very powerful resource, especially in the lower levels since it gives us the chance to get cards that we did not have yet, and that are actually very useful in the gameplay. Besides the cards, there are many other objects that one can purchase with glint – but for me, the monsters are the most important ones.

If you’re in a guild, the merit is always interesting. I personally spend 2000 glint on merits every season, in order to get a pack of gladiator cards at the Guild Shop. That’s 5 cards, one of them rare – but you can’t use them that often if you don’t have the right summoners, or partake in Guild Brawls (which I highly recommend!).

Treasure chests are also an option, but I don’t like them because most of the time I get potions or very few cards. But you have the small chances for epic or legendary cards, as well as a jackpot. Still, not worth it to me.

Since I now earn quite a bit of glint, my spending has changed a little, but I still have kind of the same mechanism. As a newcomer, I’d do the following.

  1. Buy only common cards until I have the most important ones on level 3, which is the limit for bronze league. That would be 14 BCX, or 2100 Glint per card.

The cards I play most are: Urujak Elder (neutral), Blackmoor Wild Elf and Halaran Huntress (Nature), Gian Alpine Skink (Water) and the Nimblehook Explorer (Life). But it all depends on your tactics, and when you’re new, most of the cards are quite useful.

  1. As soon as I have my common cards complete, I buy only rare cards – they’re a lot more expensive, worth 5 times a common card, but they’re also worth it. For Bronze league, you'd have to get them to level 2, which is 5 BCX each card - or 3750 Glint for each, more or less.

Especially the Megalodon (Fire), Commander Slade (Water), Janni Rebel and Skyspire Leopard (Life), Dark Arborist (Death) and the Dragon Egg Forager (Dragon) find their way into my teams quite often.

This would be the start, and it will take quite a while to get them all together, even for Bronce League. If you don’t have a lot of SPS staked. My recommendation: Get a basic set of cards like these here, which I had prepared for a different post. They’re cheap and you can roam around Modern for a while to try the game.

Instead of buying a lot of cards, buy SPS and stake it – the more you have staked, the more Glint (and SPS) you earn in won battles. The more Glint you have, the more cards you can buy. And then you advance quicker. As soon as you fell in love with the game as I did and know you’re way around, you can buy some packs or event cards to support the team, and/or make some tactical purchases of specific cards on the market.

It's important to stay focused on your goals all the way long. Yes, it would be great to buy one of those epic cards – but 50 BCX of common cards have a lot more use in battle than 1 epic card.
