So it is the Splinterlands, again! So far no big news, but whenever I log into my Splinterlands account I see a lot of Proposals and Pre-Poposals and Proposals that once were Pre-Poposals popping up. To be honest I think there is currently a bit too much of them. And what even is the idea behind Pre-Poposals? -Save DEC and see if your idea even has a chance of passing?
However ruleset of the week is called "Explosive Weaponry" which is another of those sets that grants each unit an extra ability. So "Blast" is the ability all units gain on top of their existing abilities for free.
The original description goes a bit of more into detail:
"All units gain the Blast ability.
Additional damage is equivalent to main damage divided by 2, rounded up.
Include a unit with Reflection Shield in your lineup to absorb blast damage and protect your back line."
So let us look at one of my battles with this ruleset here:

Finally! it is me back in full force with earth splinter. But I was not there with Obsidian. My opponent would have been ready to counter this setup, though.
So my idea was to employ units with multiple (melee) attacks to make use of a lot of additional blast damage.
When I looked at my opponent's lineup I supposed my chances were not that bad. He had the better summoner and some more developed units, but still...
I was able to deal a lot of damage in theory. Even more so as I already lost my "Martyr" ability unit which was according to plan. However even in Round 1 I already started to score a lot of misses, regardless of if I had enough potential damage to deal.
Round 2 continued this way as before, unfortunately. I kept missing a lot, but my opponent continued to score. According to (his) plan, probably. Unfortunately each of my opponent's hits also damaged my Gobson Gladiator unit which, according to my (failing) plan should deal a lot of damage.
Grunt et aliud also quickly left the field thereafter and I just could not score any hit. This way even my multiple attacks compared with "Blast" ability did nothing.
... and yes it was a defeat for team jdike :(
So basically I like "Explosive Weaponry" and I still find it to be a good idea to bundle it with a lot of extra attacks. But somehow it did not work out for me, this time.
Why? -Probably I was just too slow to score any hits on my opponent's units.
Did he profit from "Explosive Weaponry" ruleset? -Yes, I think so. But I would guess he did not maximize the ruleset's effects. Still he won, so I might be just missing the point! :D
