These past few days, I've been hanging out with @leveluplifeph and @mangomayhem of TeamPH. I wanted to get to know them better and find out what they are all about and what they stand for. Suffice to say, I was left pleasantly surprised with what I found out. Let's dig in a little deeper, shall we?
Emphasis on Community
The biggest strong point of the Filipino Community is its ability to rally together for a cause. Whether its for community, for the country, for gaming, or for Manny Pacquiao fights, when the community comes together, you can bet that the impact will be significant.
Enter the Splinterlands Philippines community. The PH community in Splinterlands is probably one of the biggest, if not THE BIGGEST SPL community out there. There are a lot of smaller, more localized groups and if you add them all together, you end up having a behemoth of a community with a lot of members who can really make a difference in pushing the game to succeed. Why else would a Splinterfest be considered in the country if not for the number of Filipinos in the game?
TeamPH is looking to help these smaller Filipino groups out by having a centralized place to make it easier to get together and help one another. What's important to understand is that TeamPH understands that there would be no TeamPH without the community to support it and vice versa. We can do a lot alone but we can do so much more when helping each other.
It is important to understand that when we say Filipino, we don't just mean those who are born and raised in the Philippines. We also have honorary Filipinos who give so much value to the community that we consider them as our own as well!
A Voice of Representation
By having an avenue where every Filipino can get together, it's important that our voices are heard. TeamPH is very keen on helping push forward what the Filipino community wants and needs in order to get supported. A lot of Filipinos are very soft spoken or aren't very comfortable speaking their mind in certain situations which sometimes causes others to think that they aren't significant contributors to the bigger SPL community as a whole which is incredibly false. Silent contributors, especially if they number in the majority, should definitely be heard and TeamPH is going to be that voice to make sure that we aren't ignored and overlooked.
We've been gaining some steam, too! Check out @thepeoplesguild podcast with @mangomayhem where they get to know him and TeamPH a little better here.
Zero Tolerance for Bullying and Belittlement
Since a lot of Filipinos are more on the quiet side, some people take it as a sign of weakness or a sign that they can trample all over us. THAT STOPS NOW! There is no room for toxic negativity against our community and TeamPH is very adamant to help make sure that we are never bullied or belittled.
For too long, there has been a label against Filipinos for being "value extractors". That couldn't be any farther from the truth. What the Filipinos bring is a huge community, top tier players, and so much talent to help grow the game of Splinterlands in and outside of the game and we want to make sure that stigma of being value extractors is destroyed entirely.
If any Filipino is treated unjustly or is bullied or belittled especially when they are just keeping quiet, we will not tolerate that and will fight back for our fellow Filipinos. We will represent any and all Filipinos (actual and honorary) to make sure that our best interests are kept, we are heard, and most importantly, we are valued for what we bring to the table.
The Philippines' Big Brother
TeamPH is the big brother that the Filipino community needs. We need someone to have our back and make sure that we are stood up for. There is so much potential and value we can add to the Hive and Splinterlands community. Being able to rally together for the common good of the community will go a long way to make sure that the Filipinos are empowered and heard.
These conversations I've had with Levelup and Mango as well as the other community members have really put clear emphasis that we are all in it together.
We are working on a lot of initiatives to help the community further which include:
- Knowledge sharing - teaching Filipinos how to navigate the Hive and Splinterlands Ecosystem
- Curation - taking advantage of what the curation aspect of Hive has to offer
- In game help whether if it's about nfty decks provided for by TeamPH or Land initiatives
It doesn't end there and there is so much more in store! Be on the lookout for my future updates for TeamPH to keep yourself updated.
See you next time!
