Hello again Splinterfans! This weeks Battle Mage Secrets challenge is about the Noxious Fumes ruleset, if you want to find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can read the Splinterlands post here.
All units are Poisoned at the start of the game.
Units with Immunity are not poisoned.
This is a one-time application - units that are cleansed, resurrected or rebirthed will not be re-applied with poison.
Enrage is triggered by Poison application.
So while poison is pretty annoying and you'd better not be playing low health monsters, you can make advantage of it by putting martyr cards inside your team, they will die soon and boost the cards next to it, so.. here are some abilities I think are important for this ruleset:
- Immunity (obviously)
- Martyr
- Self Heal
- Cleanse
With almost every poison battle I fight, I'll make sure I use an anti-magic tank, so it needs to have void, void armor or reflect because I see a lot of magic in poison battles, my most used set-up is with a Fire team; Tusk the Wide as my tank, Scavo Chemist to cleanse his poison, Forgotten One with Immunity being surrounded with Martyr cards on both sides and something else if the mana cap allows it, but that's a pretty boring fight - with a nice winrate, but a have a better one for today 🙂.
With poison and earthquake battles it sometimes isn't important to deal the most damage, but who can survive longer, so high HP monsters help for sure.
Like I said, with poison battles, I'm always considering magic teams so in this team I picked Grandmaster Rathe, I think he's a very good summoner, he has 1 nemesis though.... Immortalis, but that's not who my opponent played.
First look at the battlefield:
Well my opponent went magic so going counter magic was a good choice, to stay alive I went for 2 self healing monsters and one with Immunity, not playing martyr cards in this ruleset is a failure in my opinion. I brought a resurrect too, with the intention to get two martyr boosts but in this case the Pelacor Conjurer died sooner, we will get to that in a bit.
My strategy: Pelacor Conjurer soaks up damage while most of my team don't get damaged by the poision or just heals back up while the martyr dies and hopefully Adelaide resurrects him.
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Grandmaster Rathe - reason: Void Armor mostly, and amplify works well with Spell Reflect too.
- First position: Pelacor Conjurer - reason: a cheap evasive, reflective meat shield.
- Second position: Uriel the Purifier - reason: Self Heal.
- Third position: Venari Marksrat - reason: Martyr obviously.
- Fourth position: Imperial Knight - reason: Self Heal.
- Fifth position: Adelaide Brightwing - reason: Repair, Resurrect.
- Sixth position: Evelyn Auvera - reason: Immunity and sneak protection.
The Battle:
Round 1: Wow, my Pelacor Conjurer is bringing a lot of trouble for the enemy team, and while it already died once, it got resurrected, not my intention but he's doing a lot of reflect damage so that's cool too!
Round 2: That went fast, four monsters in the enemy team died this round, while only my meat shield died, and that was kind of the plan lol, and while dying he took Regal Peryton with him!
Round 3: Only Centauri Mage is left, it's a great card, against archers 😆 my plan worked nicely!
The poison damage killed Centauri Mage at the start of round 4.
Another win in the pocket! I saved this battle from before the bot ban, so SPS rewards are still a lot lower than what we are used now, we DO get used to good things fast, don't we!? 🤑
