Since I joined the Splinterlands Weekly Art Contest, I’ve been trying to improve my drawing every other week.
I’ve been thinking of a new style, a new approach to my art. Of course, because of this, it takes me longer to create art because the steps are getting harder.
What I thought of including this time is Charlok Minotaur, a fire element minotaur wielding a hammer.
As usual, the first thing I did was the sketch. I sketched based on the colors I would use for the character’s parts. I find the result of the art more appealing when I do it this way, although if you’ve seen my other drawings, I’ve been using this style for a while.
Next is coloring. I colored each part within the outline I made, then I shaded.
For shading, I thought of using long strokes for shading, like in comics.
After shading, I outlined the background. I just made a rough sketch of what I wanted to see in the art, and I thought of a cave.
I spent some time here because of the many long strokes I made. Besides that, I also experimented with layer types for each color I made.
I also added flames to Charlok Minotaur because his horns and upper back have flames according to Splinterlands lore.
This is my final artwork, and I hope you like it.
