Hello community, my post is about one of my battles in the game Splinterlands, in Focus Earth, I rented some cards to make my deck more competitive, and the battle I share is with the card Mitica Headhunter from Untamed Edition.
With the new battle system it is important not to suffer penalties and so I have been renting some cards that I think are important, and this allows me to have cards in my deck that I never had or experienced before, because in the previous format of battles, I only rented cards at the beginning of each season, and then I could stabilize my rank in relation to the power of my cards, and receive the daily rewards of chests, but now this whole process is quite different because it is important to win the battles to be able to win more daily and season chests and this is very fascinating.
But not everything is a bed of roses, more wins implies higher rank and stronger players, and more difficult to win battles, so it is important to have good cards in your deck if you intend to be competitive in the game.
The Earth Splinter is not only to bet on Magic cards, because we become predictable and with Debuff to Magic attacks complicates the battles, Mitica Headhunter is a very interesting card of Ranged attack with excellent speed, spending a lot of Mana is best combined in battles that allow a lot of Mana.
In its initial level has ability Snare, where with its attack on cards with Flying skill removes ability and does not miss the target, already in level 4 of its evolution gains ability Piercing where the damage exceeding the armor with your attack reaches the health, and finally gains ability Shatter where with its attack removes armor from the monster attacked, getting a total of 6 attack strength, a very aggressive card and with important skills.
For this battle we had plenty of Mana available and the rules set gave each monster 2 Armor and Ranged attack cards could attack from first position.
Given that I was doing Focus Earth and could continue in this battle, I noticed that my opponent must have been doing Focus Fire so I understood that the best option would be to use Mylor Crowling Summoner which gave Thorns ability to my cards and was an advantage against Melee attacks.
To lead my formation I chose Chain Golem of Melee attack with Shield ability is a card a little expensive but very strong against Melee attacks and
Ranged attacks that allows you to combine it with any Splinter.
In the second position I chose Centauri Mage with Return Fire ability allowing it to cause damage if it was the target of Ranged attacks, and its high health points, was important for second tank in this battle.
In the third position Mitica Headhunter with her high Ranged attack would be one of the first cards to attack in battle causing a lot of damage, and to protect my tank from Magic attacks, Wood Nymph with Tank Heal skill would allow Chain Golem to continue in battle.
Hunter Jarx with Snipe ability would knock armor off the cards allowing then when they hit the first position, my frontline attack cards to have life easier, while in the last position Regal Peryton would allow the opponent to miss Sneak attacks, and if they hit the target, they would suffer from Thorns.
My formation is complete with a mix of attack types and protecting my tank.
The opponent chose Fire Splinter as predicted, and so my Summoner matches well against Melee attacks, but Cornealus is the most difficult card in battle because it can attack from first position and has Heal ability, while I have no Debuff that prevents that.
We both have the same tank, but I have Magic attack cards that hit health while the opponent has to destroy my tank's armor first, being an advantage for me.
Starting the battle, my cards having higher speed attack first, no card misses the target and the opponent's Melee attacks suffer with Thorns, the worst for me is that the opponent has Serpentine Spy with Opportunity ability attacks my Wood Nymph card, although in this round it hits the armor, in the next round it will eliminate it and thus has no possibility to use Tank Heal.
Due to the Thorns ability on my cards I am managing to do damage to the Melee attacks suffered and with that I am able to eliminate the opponent's tank.
In the third round I also end up losing Chain Golem and Centauri Mage leads my formation, so the Melee attacks suffer Thorns and the Ranged attacks suffer Return Fire which becomes very important in this battle.
Reaching the fourth round I manage to eliminate the opponent's cards, leaving only the most complicated to destroy, Cornealus, but I still have enough cards in the battle, I just need to eliminate Cornealus before it begins to destroy my cards one by one, happening that I have no chance.
My cards have not gone wrong with their attacks and this is important against Heal ability, and reaching the sixth round, Cornealus finds itself powerless against the attack strength of my cards, especially the aggressive attack of Mitica Headhunter that will be the last attack in the battle, eliminating the powerful Cornealus allowing to win this very difficult battle, in which the abilities Thorns and Return Fire were of great importance to reach the sixth round still with four cards in battle.
With this win I managed to earn 3,573 Reward Points and 1,411 Dec ending my daily Focus around here.
I am in Silver League II and I have excess rank points, and I would get better Rshares being in Silver League I but my card power does not allow me to reach that League yet, and for renting is still a considerable value, little by little I will get closer and when I get the Modern format of battles I will be able to play.
Since I've been playing Splinterlands the most I've managed so far is to reach Silver League II, opening 3 chests a day and 15 at the end of each season.
With this new battle format, I have been able to gain more daily chests, at the time of this battle, even playing in Silver League II I was able to unlock 10 daily chests and the Season accumulation goes to 42 chests, which is pretty good for me when I play daily up to 75% ECR.
Renting strong cards has allowed me these results, although I do not spend much on card rentals, just the essentials to compete, it allows me to increase my rank of the ranking and consequently fight against strong opponents, which is addictive to set the strategy to compete against the best.
